Let's talk about water safety like we talk about firearm safety. We wouldn't leave a loaded gun around kids, so why take chances with pools or open water? It's time to educate ourselves and prioritize safety, especially for our little ones. Check out this video from the National Alliance of Drowning Prevention to learn more. #WaterSafety #DrowningPrevention #SafetyFirst
“I didn’t know” is a phrase we hear all too often in drowning prevention. Many people are completely unaware that drowning is the single leading cause of death among children ages 1-4. Drowning remains a leading cause of accidental death for older children. In this powerful video, hear firsthand from families who lost their children to drowning. Their stories are a stark reminder of the silent danger that water can pose and highlight the essential need for proactive drowning prevention measures. By raising awareness and educating others, we can work together to change these statistics and ensure the safety of our families. Watch, learn, and help us spread this life-saving message far and wide. #WaterSafetySeason2024 #DrownAlliance #DrowningPrevention

It’s #AntiSlaveryWeek In 2023, over 17,000 people were identified as potential victims of modern slavery in the UK alone, and alarmingly, nearly half (44%) were children. But the true scale of the problem is even larger, with more than 130,000 people estimated to be trapped in slavery. We’re proud to partner with the Slave Free Alliance (SFA) and are committed to playing our role in eradicating exploitation by raising awareness, updating our safeguarding policies and procedures, and educating our colleagues. We’ve published our revised Modern Slavery Statement, which details the actions we’ve taken this year as well as our future focus. This week is a call to action for all of us. By raising awareness, we can all play a role in eliminating exploitation and supporting victims. Every conversation and every action count. Let’s come together to build a future free from slavery by being informed about the signs. Our revised Modern Slavery Statement 🔗 https://bit.ly/4h6huXa

We NEED more school-based mental health workers. According to a 2019 report by SAMHSA, nearly 60% of children 12-18 experiencing a depressive episode did not receive any treatment. Of the adolescents who DID get help, nearly two thirds did so ONLY in school. That should tell us that A. we need to be more proactive in talking to and offering mental health support to young people, and B. There's a huge opportunity to reach these children at school.

Why does this continue to happen? Why don’t we just try to come up with a solution instead of arguing whether or not something is or isn’t going to work. When is this going to stop being normalized? When will it be enough? How many innocent children and people have to die before we get tired of hearing this? When are we going to stop sending prayers and condolences and moving on with our lives? #mentalhealthadvocate #mentalhealthmatters #socialworker #lifeinsuranceagent #georgia
