Improv is short for improvisation–a type of theatrical performance, in which every scene, action, dialogue, and character are made up on the spot. Even though improvisational comedy began in the 1950s, you’re probably most familiar with this type of performance due to modern television shows. Shows like Whose Line is it Anyway?, Murderville, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Reno 911! incorporate improvised comedy into their episodes. Heck, some of the most iconic moments in film and television were improvised! Although improv is heavily featured in the entertainment industry, the same rules and skills can improve your professional development. To help get you started, this month's Fractional Forum guest Diane Devaney, President & Founder of Devaney & Associates, Inc., will introduce you to the rules of the game ⬇️ https://bit.ly/3Rp9WTg #BusinessTips #ProfessionalDevelopment #TeamBuilding

Life is not a Journey... It is a series of mini-series adventures - some are dramas, some are adventures, and others comedies and tragedies. In each mini-series we write the screenplay, choose the location, star in our chosen role, and choose our co-stars and the full cast and crew... If you don't like the mini-series you are in - change something and start a new script... We chose to make ours a chain of adventures, yes there's drama, comedy, and tragedy included but we stay on the script as much as possible. What is your life story...?

Imagine sitting in front of the television, watching a comedy show, and realizing that the jokes don’t quite make you laugh. Many of us have experienced this with traditional comedy shows that often struggled to resonate with everyone in the room due to their scripted routines and limited interaction. Today's generation, growing up with the internet, might not relate to this. Social media has democratized comedy, allowing for diverse voices and perspectives to find their audience. Comedians now have the freedom to create unique content and reach a broader audience, revitalizing the art form to make it more accessible and relatable. Follow the link in the comments to know more about how this shift is shaping the future of humor! #SocialKetchup #CreatorEconomy #NewAgeComedy #Entertainment #ContentCreation

Timing is everything ⏰ I went to a short film screening last night and in the reception met the composer. She was telling me that she works mostly in factual tv but really wanted to crossover into comedy. So on a whim she messaged a comedy producer she’d been following for a while saying that she would love to work with her on something in the future. Just so happens that producer was pulling together a team for a quick turnaround short at the time she messaged. And the rest as they say is history. What I took from this conversation is: 1. Yes, shoot your shot! You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take so take the shot reach out to people you want to work with. 2. If timing is everything then follow ups are crucial. The chances that you send one DM at the perfect moment is possible but slim. You maximise your chances of being in the right place at the right time when you follow up.
