🎓 The project to establish a Living Labs (LLs) network on campuses in Rzeszów, Pécs, Prague, and Prešov has reached its successful conclusion. 💡Living Labs are open innovation ecosystems that bring together universities, private businesses, public institutions, and the civil society to co-create and test sustainable, innovative solutions. As part of the project, Wyższa Szkoła Informatyki i Zarządzania w Rzeszowie and partners developed a toolkit, training materials, and scenarios (available in multiple languages) to help anyone implement LLs in academic settings. They piloted these in a workshop with students from all participating universities. 👉 Sounds interesting? Check out the full V4 story here: https://bit.ly/485F1Dr

I make people fall for your EdTech or alternative school with every word you post. I've helped clients earn millions from investors, customers, and new raving fans. 🇨🇴 Aspiring to lead the global education reform.
Going to build a newsletter to improve literacy and critical thinking in public. The newsletter is part of a larger mission connected to Brillio, my communications consultancy. Brillio is all about reforming global education—raising the bar for what good education looks like. But here’s the thing: education doesn’t just happen in classrooms. It happens in conversations, how we approach thinking, and how we handle big ideas. And that’s where the newsletter comes in (at least right now, about 5 hours into ideating). I realized a group of intellectually curious people out there—smart and well-read but do not necessarily engage with deep ideas regularly. Maybe they feel intellectually unstimulated or don’t know how to channel their intellectual curiosity into action. Currently, this newsletter will be designed to bridge that gap. This connects back to Brillio’s mission of raising the bar of what good education looks like by helping create hundreds of examples of humans who can now think critically, engage with tough ideas, and ultimately be part of the solution for education reform. #newsletter #buildinpublic #education

Delighted to share the first of our #artichoke stories with the world. Thanks to Stephen McCarthy and Wendy Rowan for shaping this story through their ongoing hard work. The artichoke has now become the symbol of academic activity in the BIS@UCC Department. Specifically, the artichoke captures the intersection of our research strategy pillar activities. These intersections showcase the real dynamism of the BIS academic (like Steve and Wendy). The BIS Department is at the forefront of defining the future of Business Information Systems (BIS), strategically aligned across four pillars that underscore our commitment to excellence and innovation. Therefore, every day we strive to ensure that our pillar activities have a practical impact. In Pillar 1, we are establishing BIS as a beacon of high-impact research globally, intricately weaving smart specialisation with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to address critical global challenges. Pillar 2 is dedicated to nurturing research graduates, supporting them through an enriching journey that transforms them into inquisitive scholars, ready to contribute meaningfully to the world. Through Pillar 3, we are redefining engagement by designing and hosting a spectrum of research events (online, hybrid, and in-person) that underscore the relevance and applicability of BIS in solving real-world problems. Lastly, Pillar 4 emphasises our dedication to pedagogical excellence, sharing innovative Learning and Teaching (L&T) practices within BIS classrooms, thereby fostering an environment of continuous improvement and knowledge exchange among staff, students, and the wider academic and practitioner communities. Together, these pillars not only amplify the BIS Department's #impact but also reinforce our role as #leaders in shaping the #future of Information Systems #education and #research. Throwback to our “The Lab Turns 1” Potluck Last weekend, Andreas Kohler and I invited current and former lab members for a small potluck/birthday party to celebrate our labs’ first anniversary. We enjoyed great food, happy times, and the time just flew by. I love hosting events like this, where our team members can come together just to have a great time. These gatherings do so much for fostering happy and healthy group dynamics and creating a positive lab environment. It’s surreal that the lab is already one year old. The time has flown by, and while I’m thrilled with the journey, it hasn’t been without its challenges. Some parts were way harder than I had ever thought, while others were very manageable – but nothing was easy. I’m proud of the many things that have worked out as planned. We successfully built up the lab, welcomed our first students in March, and got our main methods up and running. However, some tasks were definitely harder and slower than I expected. Starting a group comes with a myriad of tasks, making it difficult to balance my time effectively. Securing funding to get the lab running was a significant achievement, but not all grant applications were successful. The lab is functioning well, but we still face challenges. Reflecting on my own expectations and immediate goals often makes me nervous, especially when considering to-do lists and things I could or should have done differently. Relaxing after a day of doing my best, yet not completing everything I planned, is challenging. I tend to focus on the negatives, which is something I’m actively working on. As a group leader, I strive to be a role model and demonstrate how science can thrive with kindness in academia. Despite setbacks and hurdles, academic kindness remains a central aim for me. On this Sunday, I was simply happy to see our team members working together, performing well, and I am excited to continue our scientific journey with them. I also look forward to welcoming new members who bring fresh perspectives. #LabLife #AcademicKindness #TeamBuilding #ScienceCommunity #ResearchJourney #LabAnniversary #PositiveVibes #Collaboration #ScientificResearch #LeadershipInScience
