DAY 15 EMBRACE CARPOOLING Carpooling is a transportation solution where multiple individuals share a vehicle to travel together, typically to and from work or other destinations. 1. Reduced Carbon Emissions: Carpooling reduces the number of vehicles on the road, leading to lower carbon emissions and air pollution. 2. Conservation of Resources: Carpooling helps conserve valuable resources such as fuel and oil by reducing overall vehicle usage. 3. Less Traffic Congestion: Carpooling decreases the number of cars on the road, leading to reduced traffic congestion and shorter commute times. 4. Cost Savings: Sharing the cost of fuel, tolls, and parking fees among carpool participants leads to significant cost savings for individuals. 5. Community Building: Carpooling fosters a sense of community among participants as they share rides, conversation, and experiences during their commutes. As a biologist, I'm acutely aware of the role of sustainability in our ecosystems and I'm totally committed to championing sustainability, recognizing it's paramount importance in preserving our planet for future generations. Together, let's turn every ride into a celebration of sustainability, camaraderie, and shared mobility! Thank you for your commitment to making a difference, one ride at a time! I'm Muogbo Scholastica and I advocate for sustainability. Now that you know, share to educate others. #favoriteteacher #teacherscholastica #biologist #educationist #sustainable #sustainability #viral #eco30impacts #green #group #car #carpooling #sdgs #sustainabledevelopmentgoals

🚗🌱 Carpooling: Driving Change for a Greener Tomorrow 🌍👫 Looking for a simple yet impactful way to reduce your carbon footprint and combat climate change? Consider carpooling! Carpooling not only helps reduce traffic congestion and air pollution but also fosters a sense of community and camaraderie among commuters. Here are some reasons why carpooling is a win-win for both you and the planet: 1️⃣ **Reduce Carbon Emissions**: By sharing rides with others, you can significantly reduce the number of vehicles on the road, leading to lower carbon emissions and improved air quality. Every mile shared is a mile less of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere, helping to mitigate the effects of climate change. 2️⃣ **Save Money**: Carpooling allows you to split the cost of fuel, tolls, and parking fees with your fellow commuters, saving you money on transportation expenses. Additionally, carpooling can help reduce wear and tear on your vehicle, leading to lower maintenance costs in the long run. 3️⃣ **Conserve Resources**: By using fewer vehicles for transportation, carpooling helps conserve valuable resources such as fossil fuels and raw materials used in automobile manufacturing. This contributes to the preservation of natural habitats and ecosystems, promoting environmental sustainability. 4️⃣ **Reduce Traffic Congestion**: Carpooling helps alleviate traffic congestion on busy roads and highways, leading to smoother traffic flow and shorter commute times for everyone. This not only reduces stress for commuters but also improves overall road safety and efficiency. 5️⃣ **Build Community Connections**: Carpooling provides an opportunity to connect with fellow commuters and build meaningful relationships. Sharing rides allows for conversations, laughter, and shared experiences, fostering a sense of camaraderie and social connection among participants. Ready to join the carpooling movement? Whether you're commuting to work, running errands, or heading to a social event, consider coordinating rides with friends, coworkers, or neighbors to make a positive impact on the environment and your wallet. Together, we can drive change for a greener, more sustainable future! 🌱🚗💚 #Carpooling #ClimateAction #GreenCommute #ECO30Impact Let's pool our resources, reduce our carbon footprint, and pave the way for a cleaner, healthier planet through carpooling! 🌍👭🚗

Because you take your life in your hands every time you get on a bike in #Brussels. Seriously one of the worst cities to ever bike in: white-knuckling single lanes that at once contain bike, tram, bus, car, truck, e-scooter.... as well as really abusive, convulsive drivers. Absolute deathtrap city. Completely understand why people drive. Give safe alternatives to driving and people will change. But only then. #mobility #driving #sustainability #Belgium https://lnkd.in/eCxUhV8P

Why Walking Should Be Your First Choice for Short Trips When it comes to the environment, those quick car trips add up. Modern vehicles can emit twice as much pollution in the first five minutes of running . This means that those quick jaunts to the shops or school drop-offs could be contributing more to pollution than we think. Traffic is a tough issue caused by a very simple problem: too many Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMTs). RideSHARING helps and is very different from RideHAILING. Most of the big "rideshare"companies have eliminated sharing or pooling rides, often citing that people don't want to be too far out of their way. At Circuit, we focus on short trips and we pool riders when it makes sense and isn't "too far out of the way". Fortunately that inconvenience is much smaller when you're only going a mile or two. We see about 40% of our rides get pooled and upwards of 70% in some markets. It's estimated that the RideHAILING companies were pooling about 2-7% of their "shared rides." All of these short trips add up, and make a big impact on reducing VMTs and improving our Cities. #UrbanMobility #Sustainability #RideSharing #Transportation #SmartCities

Webinar: Moving towards sustainable transport It’s often a challenge to get from A to B in Wales if you don’t own a car – and with a cost-of-living crisis and Wales’s attempts to reach Net Zero, #communities have been rising to meet the challenge. In this webinar and discussion, we’ll hear from a variety of communities across Wales about the various creative ways they’ve been trying to increase access to sustainable, affordable transport. Some of the topics we’ll discuss will include car clubs, electric vehicles, on-demand community-run buses or taxis, and making it easier to ride (and fix) bicycles. Join us from 2-3pm on the 14th of March 2024 to hear from speakers from Partneriaeth Ogwen, Spokesperson CIC and TripTo.
