In Real Estate and in Private Dog Training, the reason, why I get so many refferals, is “I Keep it Real” We live in a world, where so many people, promise the world, but don’t deliver on those promises. Life is short, always “Keep It Real” “Keeping it real" means being authentic, honest, and true to oneself and others. It involves: 1. **Honesty**: Speaking the truth and being straightforward, even when it’s difficult or unpopular. 2. **Authenticity**: Acting in a way that is true to your beliefs, values, and personality, rather than conforming to others' expectations. 3. **Transparency**: Being open about your thoughts, feelings, and intentions. 4. **Integrity**: Upholding moral and ethical principles, and being consistent in words and actions. 5. **Genuineness**: Interacting with others in a sincere and unpretentious manner. Overall, "keeping it real" is about maintaining honesty and integrity in all interactions and being genuine in how you present yourself to the world.

Training alone is not enough; rehearsing and executing on that training is equally important. It equips individuals and the team with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their tasks effectively. We often assume that in high-pressure situations, we will rise to the occasion, but in reality, we tend to fall back on our most recent level of competency. Regular practice and execution ensure that these skills become second nature, allowing us to perform reliably and confidently when it matters most. Continuous rehearsal solidifies our abilities, turning learned concepts into ingrained habits that we can depend on in critical moments. Zig Ziglar has been quoted in saying, “It’s better to train people and risk losing them than to do nothing and risk keeping them”. My point here is talking about it is one thing. Doing it on a computer based program that was developed in the comfort of some office is much the same. Acting out the steps and identifying the uncertainty is key and should be invested in. In dog training, and in life, we often face challenges that seem daunting. One of my favorite analogies is: "You must go through the woods to get the picnic." This means that to build a dog that is tougher, more courageous, and less fearful, we need to face these challenges head-on. Building trust with your dog involves helping them navigate and overcome their fears. Whether it's a new tool, a new environment, or a new command, each challenge is an opportunity to strengthen your bond. By approaching these situations positively and consistently, you can help your dog become more confident and resilient. Next time you encounter a hurdle in your training journey, remember: the path through the woods may be difficult, but the picnic at the end is worth it.

A holiday post I recently attended a supervised 4X4 off-road training event. I had been in possession of capable off-roaders for a long time but never mustered courage to take them off the tarmac During the course of the day I had numerous musings which made me compile this post After all , learning should never stop, here’s my capture from the day : 1. You only learn for the part where you go outside your comfort zone … rest of it is all a chore 2. If you don’t pick your ride ( your team) with right kit of features (skills or competencies), you can only go that far. The right and informed feature choice earlier, makes it possible to deploy 4X4 features and make, impossible terrains a slow and easy ‘crawl’ , importantly, even when half your wheels lose traction (during resource crunch) 3. The tools alone won’t make the magic, but practice (read drills) will. Combine needed skills (read the transfer case and locking differentials ) over several cycles of drills (obstacle course) to help you most optimally distribute the power (leverage) to the wheels (functions) where you need it the most (effectiveness). 4. Then there will be situations where you even with your tools will have a limited reach and farsight. You now need ‘spotters’ who are experienced, can be trusted as they will help you navigate out of the ‘obstacles’ 5. There are multiple ways to get to the finish point, it’s however important to first assess and eliminate the options which can set you going home with a DNF (Did Not Finish) Lastly, if you do not enjoy and learn further from what you are doing you will feel more heat and fatigue (the burnouts) More in this series later, as I advance through next levels in my off road training Do write your thoughts if you enjoyed it

In a cautionary tale captured on video, a cyclist, fuelled by arrogance and a total disregard for the safety of others, becomes the architect of his own downfall. Racing down a busy road, he approaches another cyclist at a high speed. Instead of slowing down or checking if it's safe to overtake, he swerves into the car lane, forcing a vehicle to brake and swerve sharply to avoid a collision. In a moment of misplaced defiance, he turns and gestures rudely at both the car driver and the fellow cyclist. This act of recklessness leads to him losing control, crashing into the curb, and being thrown onto the path. This incident serves as a stark reminder that the belief in our invincibility and the dismissal of safety can orchestrate a sequence of events leading to unnecessary harm. It raises an important question: How many individuals carry this sense of invincibility into their workplaces? The belief that they are always right, the willingness to take undue risks, and the quickness to blame others when things go wrong are attitudes that compromise not only their personal safety but also the safety of colleagues and the public. Training tip: When working with your dog you should be able to realize more success if you break down all the steps to get to the big picture. Each step should be solid before advancing your dog's skills. A dog that responds at home is a great start but as you add a "real world" environment and distractions to your training regime' go back to square one and build slowly to ensure the dog's success.
