SBTI plays a key role in sustainable finance markets, from validating #netzero commitments, #sustainability-linked products to #carboncredits (a focus of controversy with potential change around the corner). It’s role is rightly on the minds of many of my fellow practitioners (recent letter from environmental #NGOs to SBTi tantamount to that) and students. It will be high on the agenda in my next sustainable finance and impact investing courses. #scope3

Are you curious about how many companies in your country have validated science-based targets, and how many of them have implemented robust, credible actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions? SBTI has developed a target dashboard to shed light on the targets and commitments of all organizations setting science-based targets. In Saudi Arabia (KSA), the latest update from SBTI indicates that there are only two companies have successfully validated their science-based targets. This highlights the need for increased efforts and engagement to encourage more companies in the region to adopt and implement science-based actions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in order to meet net zero commitment! #Netzero #ESG #climatechange
