The Belgian cycling season and cobbled classics are quickly approaching! But at which race can you most easily find a beer while watching? I used this simple question as a case study to demonstrate the fundamental principles of geospatial data in a blog post I wrote for Aivix. ALTEN , the Fédération Française de Cyclisme , and the CNRS - Centre national de la recherche scientifique are teaming up to revolutionize cycling performance for the 2024 Olympics! In the world of time trial races, milliseconds can be the difference between standing on the podium or not. That's where the magic happens - in the minutiae. Athletes' dedication is unparalleled, but we believe in providing them with an extra technological edge for victory. At the forefront of time-trial optimization techniques, we integrate physical modeling, big data, and AI to meticulously trim those crucial milliseconds. This commitment underscores our dedication to innovation, excellence, and the vital role of sports technology in propelling athletic performance to new heights. [Race Analysis] Trail running is too elitist, there are only races in Europe That's not true: many circuits are trying to develop races all over the world (GTWS, UTMB®, World Trail Majors) 🌍 It's an opportunity to open up the practice and, above all, to run mythical events locally. A big step forward in limiting travel 🔥For example, the @UTCT is a renowned event on the African continent, taking place this weekend. 📊 Discover the race insights! Learn more about the Walk of Triathlon in Roth👇
Hi #measuringhero! Jay has taken on more than usual this time and has travelled to the town of Roth in Germany, home to one of Europe's most famous triathlons. 🚴🏃🏊 Here he learns about an art project to honour the athletes throughout the city of Roth. Watch the full vlog to find out how this relates to metrology and see how Jay performs in a triathlon! ▶️ https://lnkd.in/eSX_Atw5 Special thanks belong to the city of Roth, Mrs. Rumetsch (Köppen Rumetsch Architekten) and Alexander Zetterer, which together realised the art project in honour of the athletes. #HandsOnMetrology

The CYBATHLON obstacles have changed! 😱 Instead of the obstacles we’re used to from the last competition… … we’ll be facing completely new obstacles in the upcoming CYBATHLON 2024. Moreover, CYBATHON is steadily improving the new obstacles with modifications. In the latest release of the rules: • The door will be different • The ‘crowd’ obstacle part will be adjusted, and: • The bottle weight has changed. What seemed to be shocking at first – is in reality great news. Here’s why: • CYBATHLON is steadily improving the obstacles to better reflect the needs of wheelchair users, and… • … to find the best technology that is most adaptable to change. Iterations in obstacles have happened many times before. And in those times, our team has always displayed great foresight and flexibility. At this stage, we want to thank CYBATHLON! And we're looking forward to compete in 2024! 🙂

𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘰 𝘚𝘪𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘵𝘩𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱𝘴! 🏃♂️🌟 The recent Athletics World Championships in Budapest were not only a thrilling spectacle but also an inspiration for me to delve deeper into the world of sports analytics. As part of my Shake It Up! series, I decided to put my Monte Carlo Simulator for 4x100m relays to the test. While it's far from perfect, here are some intriguing findings from my analysis: 1. 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐔𝐒𝐀'𝐬 𝐒𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: The American 4x100m men's relay team displayed stellar changeovers, particularly between Kerley and Carnes and Carnes and Lyles, which I deemed "Perfect." However, the Coleman to Kerley transition was a bit rough, categorized as "High." The simulator indicates that the team had a 65+% chance of running a winning time of 37.38 or faster. 2. 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐜𝐚'𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬: Jamaica, despite their promising team of young runners, faced difficulties with their changeovers, impacting their overall performance. My judgment led to suboptimal ratings for their transitions, reducing their likelihood of hitting their final time from ~89% to ~33%. 3. 𝐈𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐲'𝐬 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞: Italy's performance was brilliant. Their 4x100m relay team clocked the World Leading time in the semifinals. However, analyzing individual performances and considering Italy's relay training tradition, I realized that something extraordinary was happening. By adjusting inputs for fresher legs and other factors, my simulator suggested a ~9% probability that they could achieve their impressive time of 37.62. In conclusion, while acknowledging the limitations of my Monte Carlo Simulator, it has proven valuable as a tool for exploring hypothetical scenarios and gaining insights. Simulators are not just predictors; they empower us to consider various factors that influence outcomes. Curious to explore the world of 4x100m relays with my simulator? Each year, I take some time to consider if I am set to go again, push again, start from 0 again, to drive Impact Marathon forward. This year, the answer is '100% Yes' again. In 2023, we delivered 4 events: Guatemala, Ethiopia, Nepal, & Jordan. Each one epitomised what we have gotten right: powerful impact, and a truly powerful 'product' for want of a better word. I'm incredibly proud of the events themselves, we really give our all and do a great job each time However, we also saw where we have not been so good: sharing our story, marketing, and growing the narrative. I find this hard, super hard. I find telling the story in blogs, in the podcast, in person immensely easy. But reaching the audience and shaping the above to grow our following, this is hard for me - and it holds us back. This year, that changes. And I will massively welcome your ideas, input, and support in how we grow, it's not my strong point and I definitely need more help in achieving this.
