The Scottish Government rejected the opportunity to buy a catamaran for just £13.8 million as an alternative to its disastrous £400million CalMac ferry building debacle.

Maybe another Inquiry required...then pay out millions on that ...despite finding errors omissions etc. No action..put loads of sheets of paperwork on a shelf..
It’s vital for landlords and estate agents to prioritise the safety of properties and that includes minimising the risk of fire 🔥
In our blog post, we explain why fire safety is so important and how we can help you take the correct measures to ensure a property has been assessed and meets legal requirements.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I’ve been telling our water company clients for some years that there is in my view a strong correlation for by far the majority of companies between the level of meter penetration, the amount of complaints received and/or their C-MeX customer experience survey results. That means the higher % of customers on meters, the more opportunities there are for things to go wrong either operationally with the meter (its installation or operation) or with the billing, resulting in more complaints and a lower C-MeX score.
As companies quite rightly prioritise installing more meters in their Water Resources and Business Plans in order to promote lower consumption through behavioural change to mitigate water stress (either actual or because of future forecasts) and also because it’s accepted pretty much universally that it’s fairer to pay according to what we use, I think it’s almost inevitable those two indicators will therefore get worse not better, at the very least in the short to medium term.
Thames Water may be pleased to hear I haven’t been complaining about my own “smart” meter installation, which was nearly 2 years ago, and which they have never activated. This means I still pay the fixed rateable value tariff. I have enquired about it and posted too here on the subject periodically. Not so smart…but I am not dissatisfied, just puzzled.
Overall, households made 222,956 complaints directly to water companies in England and Wales, in the last year, with Thames Water, Yorkshire Water and Cambridge Water all rated as the poorer performers. Find out more:

Our latest - Manitobans are evenly split on whether the province should introduce a new flag. Although there is a relatively high level of soft support for a new flag, there is much more intense opposition - especially among older and rural Manitobans.
A significant number of Manitobans agree the current flag is too colonial - and much too similar to Ontario's. But the proportion that would be fairly upset about a new flag is high enough that I'd be very surprised to see the current provincial government try to make a change.

In the last 5 years, 441 people in the UK have accidently lost their lives due to drowning whilst running or walking along waterways.
Here are some tips to stay safe:
When running or walking next to open water stay clear of the bank edges as these are often unstable or slippery and can increase the chances of an accident occurring.
Make sure you are running in well lit, high traffic areas.
Always try and walk with a friend so there is someone to call for help if you do get into trouble. But do not enter the water to rescue someone in danger.
Always take a fully charged mobile phone to call for help if needed.
If you do fall into the water, stay calm, float on your back and call for help.

The National Transportation Safety Board essentially confirmed what East Palestine residents already believed—the vent and burn of vinyl chloride was not necessary.
The OEC and other Ohio advocacy organizations continue to echo the calls of East Palestine residents to hold Norfolk Southern accountable for its actions. But the NTSB's recent confirmation also emphasizes the crucial need for comprehensive regulation of emergency responses.
We must ensure companies responsible for disasters aren't also calling the shots on how to respond to and clean up those disasters. We must also ensure that emergency professionals are equipped with the authority, resources, and information to protect communities from rash decisions—like the choice to vent and burn vinyl chloride in East Palestine.

Emergency alerts system set to cost £25 million over three years, government finally reveals (26 MAY 2023)
Emergency Alerts is a UK government service that will warn you if there’s a danger to life nearby.
In an emergency, your mobile phone or tablet will receive an alert with advice about how to stay safe.
Did anyone get an alert during the riots? or even an alert about loss of life due to stabbings / crime ?or even about toxic waste being leaked into rivers / seas in your area?
It’s just a question
