Just a thought... This seems like a much needed and sensible use of money. If the people who want to be trained can't come to the place where the training currently takes place then taking the training to them. For hands on technical and engineering related training this needs to be done in-person in a workshop style environment so mobile units are the answer. The hubs featured in this annoucement are aimed at the construction sector. Should we be doing something similar for e-mobility given the number of techncians that will need to be trained across all parts of the country? https://lnkd.in/ea4fif97

A national training provider has become the latest to be awarded funding as part of the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board’s (ECITB) £1 million investment in Regional Skills Hubs. The ECITB has awarded 3t | Training Services £200,000 to help it build three mobile units which will be used to deliver training across the engineering construction industry (ECI). Aberdeen-headquartered 3t has training centres located across the UK and says the units will be a vital resource to provide training for workers on major ECI projects in areas where there is insufficient training provision. The ECITB-approved training provider is co-funding the project with £160,000 to build the units and an additional £120,000 a year towards running costs. The co-investment will create the capacity to deliver hundreds of new entrants to industry, with the units delivering ECITB-approved courses in mechanical fitting, pipefitting and plating to ECI employers across the UK. https://lnkd.in/eu3YVtwX #construction #build #design #architects #news #PR #magazine #advertising #b2b #bannerads #magazine #newsletter #emailcampaigns #engineering #manufacturing #automatio

£300K for Connected Competence Voucher Scheme The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) has allocated £300K for temporary workers within the engineering construction industry (ECI) to verify their base level of technical competence as part of the Connected Competence scheme. Connected Competence assures an ongoing base level of technical competence through industry-recognised, standardised testing to create a safer, technically competent and transferable workforce. Temporary workers who are working (or seeking work) with Connected Competence employers can access technical test vouchers that enable them to complete the tests free of charge. Chris Mann, Director of Learning and Assurance at the ECITB, said: “In 2024, the ECITB invested £270K to support temporary workers complete the technical tests required. This will be extended in 2025 to achieve the critical mass we need to forge a safe, skilled and agile workforce. “As Connected Competence expands and is recognised across more sectors, it will ensure workers across common trades are agile and their technical competencies are accepted. This will prevent duplication of training and assessment, and the time and costs associated with this.” #Learning #Engineering Read more here: https://lnkd.in/egMH-Au4

The courses in conjunction with the Department for Education (DfE) are designed for people looking to join the construction sector or existing groundworkers looking to move into a supervisor role and enhance their skills. Careys will be hosting the courses at its Construction Campus but they are open to candidates from other contractors and all potential new recruits to the industry. Funding will be provided by the DfE on a sliding scale depending on circumstances. Careys Head of Resourcing, Social Value and Early Talent, Maddy Donaghy, said: “Construction is suffering from a shortage of skilled workers – over 250,000 extra workers will be required to meet UK construction output by 2028. Over 50,000 additional workers are required per year. “The Construction Skills Bootcamp provides an excellent opportunity to develop a career as a groundworker, or for existing groundworkers looking to move into a supervisor role, and enhance their skills and develop a career, either at Careys or with another company in the industry.” Two courses will available for general operatives and construction supervisors

Very true! lol. However, unlike the toddlers here, most new gen workers need a longer period of basic #training and #mentorship to properly (and safely) adjust to the demands of their new roles... When we toss today's new hires in the deep end, we create conditions that *will* result in counterproductive stress and increased danger to man and machines... Let's get proactive about planning our training and development *to the needs* of the new workforce. #learninganddevelopment #onlinetraining #elearning #coursecreation #taitmedia
