Why does racism and sexism still exist in the workplace? This was her opening question and it sets the tone for a deep, vulnerable and risk taking conversation. Conversations that we should be having every day in the workplace but yet we are silenced, whether that is our own doing or the environments. DEI is on a backslide, with is not surprising to us, as we continue to see individual short lived change initiatives and programmes being offered at often huge costs. We are not talking just financial (DEI is big business££) but how it destroys trust, with the silence/lack of change, eroding every effort to do more, with a need greater than ever, to repair mistrust. 2024 will not be about moving the dial for us, instead it will focus on building bridges, those that we will use to place the most talented diverse candidates into. Roles that will pay well, have a clear career pathway and a culture that will get them sponsored and promoted into them quickly. Digging deep, bridging and taking collection action is the only way, and we are pleased to have been doing this for years, for clients who are now thinking, seeing and doing attraction, retention and development practices differently. Enjoy the TED or talk to @Karen Orton who continues to lead this framework for collective action. #2024planning #recruitment #sisterhood

The privileges attached to age, race, gender, physical and mental wellness, sexual orientation, languages spoken, and citizenships held - among others - are often invisible to us until we lose them. Thomas Owen’s research examines what happens to people during the process of privilege loss. So how do we respond when a relative balance of privilege changes in our lives? How do we experience privilege loss? https://lnkd.in/eUFxzHpc #diversityequityinclusion #privlege #research #race #gender #intersectionality #belonging #tedx #mentalhealth #change #socialchange

Fighting fear is a challenging and courageous endeavor. Here are some steps you can take to face and overcome your fears: 1. Recognize and acknowledge your fear: The first step is to become aware of your fears and admit them to yourself. This self-awareness allows you to understand the underlying cause of your fear. 2. Educate yourself: Learn more about your fear and the reasons behind it. This knowledge can help you gain a better understanding and perspective on your fear, making it feel less overwhelming. 3. Challenge negative thoughts: Replace negative thoughts with positive and realistic ones. Remind yourself that fear is often based on irrational thoughts and assumptions. Practice positive self-talk and affirmations to counteract your fearful inner voice. 4. Face your fears gradually: Start by gradually exposing yourself to situations or experiences that trigger your fear. Take small steps towards overcoming your fears instead of trying to tackle them all at once. This gradual approach allows you to build confidence and resilience along the way. 5. Seek support: Don't be afraid to reach out to trusted friends, family members, or professionals for support. Sharing your fears with others can provide emotional support and different perspectives. Consider joining support groups or seeking therapy to help you navigate your fears. 6. Embrace discomfort: Understand that fear can be uncomfortable, but growth often occurs outside of your comfort zone. Embrace the discomfort and use it as an opportunity for personal growth and self-discovery. 7. Practice relaxation techniques: Engage in relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or mindfulness to calm your mind and body when facing your fears. These techniques can help you stay grounded and focused during challenging moments. 8. Celebrate small victories: Acknowledge and celebrate each step you take towards overcoming your fears. Recognize that progress is a process and that even small victories deserve celebration. Remember, fighting fear takes time, patience, and persistence. Be kind to yourself throughout this journey and celebrate your resilience in facing your fears.

Compassion and kindness know no boundaries—they are the universal languages that connect us all. In a world rich with diversity, each race adds its own unique beauty to the tapestry of humanity. When we extend compassion and kindness to everyone, regardless of their background or skin colour , we celebrate this diversity and strengthen the bonds that unite us. Imagine a world where every interaction is fuelled by empathy and understanding, where differences are embraced as opportunities to learn and grow together. By choosing kindness, we build bridges instead of walls, fostering communities where love and respect reign supreme. Let us be the change-makers who uplift others, offering a hand to those in need and a heart full of acceptance. Remember, the light of compassion shines brightest when it illuminates every corner of humanity. Together, we can create a world where kindness is the norm, and every race is honoured and cherished. In a world often divided by differences, it's crucial to remember the common thread that binds us all: our shared humanity. Regardless of race, religion, nationality, or background, we are all part of the same human family, living together on this planet we call home. #UnityInDiversity #HumanityFirst #OneWorldOneFamily It's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of life, focusing on our individual pursuits and forgetting the struggles and triumphs of those around us. But true fulfillment lies in recognizing and celebrating the humanity in each person we encounter. #CompassionCounts #EmpathyMatters #SpreadKindness Every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to ripple through our communities and beyond, igniting a chain reaction of positivity and goodwill. Whether it's lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need, listening with empathy to a friend in distress, or standing up for justice and equality, our actions have the potential to shape a brighter future for all. #BeTheChange #MakeADifference #StandTogether Let's strive to cultivate a culture of compassion and understanding, where empathy guides our interactions and bridges the divides that separate us. By embracing our shared humanity, we can build a world where kindness reigns supreme and everyone has the opportunity to thrive. #EmbraceHumanity #BuildConnections #SpreadLove Together, let's journey forward with open hearts and open minds, united in our commitment to making the world a better place for generations to come. #TogetherWeRise #GlobalCommunity #HumanityPrevails Video credit goes to its respective owner!
