Round 2 of audiobooks insights! Ethan Mollick's "The Unicorn's Shadow" has many great takeaways I could share, but one piece of insight really stuck out to me while I was listening: The value of having a team made of diverse professional backgrounds. Simply put, diversity in team experience is essential for making informed decisions and solving complex problems. Each team member (architects, developers, builders in one sector versus another) brings a unique perspective shaped by their background and expertise, and may not look beyond their own discipline or preferred sector. Building a team with diverse backgrounds ensures you see all dimensions of a problem. For example, let’s say you need to tackle a problem that looks like a line. Before coming up with a solution, you add a dimension to find out the line is really a circle. Before coming up with a solution for the circle, you add a dimension and realize the circle is a bowling pin! If your well-intentioned solution addressed only the line, you’d have spent lots of time and money only to learn the hard truth later. Without diverse specialists or multi-sector builders, you’re trying to solve problems without all the information or solutions available. At TCLA, we have found that by embracing professional diversity in our teams, we can foster innovation and comprehensive problem-solving and consequently, better serve our clients. #ListeningLibrary #StartupAdvice #Entrepreneurship #ConstructionIndustry #Diversity #ProjectManagement #TheUnicornsShadow

Founder and CEO of Rolad Properties and Allied Services Limited |Real Estate Thought Leader | Wealth Creation Expert | Business Leadership Consultant | Transforming Visions into Reality.
Since founding Rolad Properties, I've never stopped developing myself. This is because I understand that I've come this far through God's grace, knowledge, understanding, and the ability to implement. If I want to go further, I must keep these elements intact. Here's my advice to you: As a CEO or Founder, you will reach a point where daily activities might make you forget what brought you to your current level. Don’t let that happen. To go further, you should double your efforts but do so more strategically. If you are used to reading for 2-3 hours, consider leveraging audiobooks and listening for longer hours instead. Just ensure you're investing in yourself. You need to be intellectually sound to lead people, make informed decisions, and take calculated risks. The moment you stop, your business will begin to decline. You might not notice it immediately, possibly thanks to your qualified employees, but in the long run, it will crumble. This new week, as you care for your employees, pay attention to your own needs. You're a human with a brain that needs development too. Don’t neglect that part. I'm rooting for you. #dotunoloyede

Helping purpose driven small businesses to think, look and act like big brands. | Brand Creation | Branding | Rebranding | Brand Communication
With January nearly over, and the New Year enthusiasm in the rearview mirror, many small business owners enter February feeling stuck. 80% of New Year's resolutions fail by mid-February. And the “New Year, New You” mantra has definitely lost most of its lustre. There is no denying they are brilliant at what they do, but with juggling so many business demands they are stretched too thin, and their business is underperforming. During January, they tried to fix this by: • Working harder or longer • Listening to webinars, podcasts and audiobooks • Doing workshops and masterclasses But it hasn’t led to the game-changing breakthrough they were hoping for. This is because they are still trying to do everything themselves. They have absorbed lots of information, but they are still approaching the same issues from the same perspective - theirs. Does this sound familiar? You can’t do everything on your own. Working alone tends to make us set in our ways. You can’t solve problems with the same kind of thinking you have always tried to solve them with. Is going it alone holding back your growth? An external perspective can often help you see your blind spots. Especially when you are working outside of your area of expertise. Take creating your brand for example. Steve Forbes, editor of Forbes Magazine, said "Your brand is the single most important investment you can make in your business." You can't create your brand yourself. Having an outside perspective will change the way you communicate with yourself and others. So, what about eight external perspectives? Eight very different perspectives? DM me if you would like to have a chat with me about my 28-Day Brand Launchpad. The only group brand creation programme of its kind in the UK, where the group feedback on everything you do. It's like having a board of directors helping you create your brand for 28 days. #brand #brandcreation #extrenalperspective

One of my favourite things about being an Entrepreneur is the fact that I am always learning. To stay in the game I have to be improving and adding to my skill set. And there are so many different ways to learn: courses, books, audiobooks, podcasts, conferences & workshops, finding a mentor, working with a business coach, YouTube, and specific practice. If you are bored, you are doing it wrong. Learning keeps me sharp and engaged. Learning is motivating, exciting, and profitable. Exercise improves our body. Learning improves our mind and our bottom line. If you are looking for help in learning what you need to be a successful business owner, give me a call. * * * * * #Entrepreneurship#BusinessStartup #StartupIdeas #BusinessOwner #SmallBusiness #BusinessTips #StartupJourney #BusinessVenture #YoungEntrepreneur #StartupCulture #NewBusiness #Innovation #BusinessMindset #FindYourPassion #NewCareer

Train Thoughts I take the train to work and I love to listen to audiobooks on my way in. Today I’m listening to “Leaders Eat Last” by Simon Sinek on the Headway EdTech app. It says, “Customers will never love a company until the employees love it first.” I tend to avoid absolutes, as I am sure there are plenty of companies people adore with unhappy employees. But, I love this sentiment. Employees are a companies easiest vein for brand ambassadors. When they love their company, they talk about it. Let’s normalize investing in the wellbeing of our employees above all else and observe as business financial wellbeing improves too.

I shared 4 business book summaries in the last several weeks. I wanted to collect them in one post. You can have a look at them from the links below: 1. The Hard Thing About Hard Things: https://lnkd.in/djfCiM4V 2. The Venture Mindset: https://lnkd.in/dV4B3AZe 3. The Speed of Trust: https://lnkd.in/dStmx6NY 4. Building a Second Brain: https://lnkd.in/dsTkFi77 I became a big fan of audiobooks a while ago thanks to Blinkist. It’s a really effective way to discover new books in a short amount of time. I listened to more than 30 audiobooks on Blinkist, and when I really liked a book, I researched more about it online and even bought some of them as paper books. My initial plan was to share one book summary every week, but it really requires time to digest ideas and make a presentation from them. That’s why I haven’t shared a new one in the last 10 days. I aim to publish 2 new summaries this month. I hope you enjoy the summaries. Reading books is still one of the best techniques for broadening our horizons. I strongly recommend that you read these 4 books. #BusinessBooks #BookSummaries #Leadership #Management #PersonalDevelopment #Audiobooks #Blinkist #Learning #ContinuousLearning #ProfessionalGrowth #ReadingRecommendations #SelfImprovement #Productivity #Innovation #VentureCapital #Startup #Entrepreneurship

Book Recommendation: "Creative Confidence: Unleashing the Creative Potential Within Us All" by Tom Kelley and David Kelley. I'm more into podcasts and audiobooks, but this month I decided to give this book a read. I can say its is a must-read for anyone in the creative field, especially those in fintech and marketing. Tom and David Kelley, founders of IDEO, share their insights on how to unlock your creative potential and apply it to solve real-world problems. Here's what I liked the most from it thus sharing, • "Creative Confidence" emphasizes that creativity is not just for artists—it's a crucial skill in every industry. For those of us working to innovate and improve financial solutions for SMBs and SMEs, being creative with things will always make you standout. • The world has become super competitive - for you to make your place -- creativity in any niche/aspect you're working will help you. This book offers valuable strategies to think outside the box and drive impactful change in whatever that is that you're doing. I loved it, you might to! #BookRecommendation #CreativeStrategy #Fintech

#Audiobooks have literally changed my life despite dealing with #dyslexia. Here are the most important lessons from my book of the week, ‘The Obstacle is the Way’ by Ryan Holiday (4 hour read): 1. Perception is Power: How we perceive obstacles determines our ability to overcome them. By shifting our perspective and seeing challenges as opportunities for growth and learning, we can harness their power to propel us forward. 2. Action over Reaction: Instead of passively reacting to adversity, take proactive steps to address and overcome obstacles. By embracing a mindset of action and perseverance, we can navigate even the toughest of situations with grace and resilience. 3. Find the Silver Lining: Every obstacle carries within it the seeds of opportunity. By searching for the hidden benefits or lessons within challenges, we can extract value from even the most difficult circumstances and use them to our advantage. 4. The Power of Persistence: Success often requires relentless persistence in the face of obstacles. By staying committed to our goals and refusing to be deterred by setbacks, we can achieve remarkable feats and surpass our own limitations. 5. Control what you can: Focus on what you can control rather than worrying about what you can't. By directing our energy and efforts towards actionable solutions and choices, we can effectively navigate challenges and maintain a sense of empowerment in any situation. Got any Must-read book suggestions for early-stage founders? Let me know in the comments or send a DM. 🥳 #bookoftheweek #startup #founderstories #audiobooks
