Are e-waste laws falling behind our rapidly changing tech? 📈 As technology advances, so do the challenges of managing #eWaste. From e-cigarettes and electric vehicles to smart clothes and furniture, the variety of #electronics we use is growing fast. However, most #recycling targets remain weight-based, missing critical raw materials like lithium and indium. Another challenge lies in moving up the waste hierarchy towards #wasteprevention, #repair, and #reuse. Unfortunately, specific targets are still rare here. ➡ Explore the latest findings and see what needs to change: https://lnkd.in/eytR2Aci #sustainability #circulareconomy

It’s surprising how much value discarded tech holds. Old computer chips, for instance, contain small amounts of gold, and there are efficient processes to extract it. Recycling electronics not only reduces waste but also helps recover valuable materials. It’s a practical way to manage e-waste and make the most of the resources we already have. However, it’s crucial to ensure that all chemicals used in these processes are handled and disposed of responsibly. Proper handling prevents pollution and ensures that safety standards are met, protecting both the environment and the people involved. It’s great to learn something new every day, and understanding how we can extract value from discarded tech while keeping sustainability in mind is another step forward. Watch the video to see how this process works in action! #EwasteRecycling #Sustainability #TechInnovation

We need to start thinking about a new global model to avoid economic rewards for waste production or hyper consumption unsustainable.
Due to digital transformations, with technologies profoundly changing the way we live, work, learn, socialize, and do business, the generation of electronic waste is rising five times faster than documented e-waste recycling. This has a detrimental impact on the environment and human health. For #EwasteDay, and every day, take action to #BeatWastePollution by repairing what you can and disposing non usable electronics at collection centres. https://lnkd.in/eT-F3NNn

As a part of the Sustainability team at ceramic industry & ongoing Ph.D. focusing on applying modern techniques (AM) to bring ceramic waste back into a production cycle, I'm proud to contribute to a sustainable future.
E-waste, particularly from electric batteries, is a growing crisis that we cannot afford to ignore. Beneath the sleek surface of our beloved mobile phones lies a supply chain often marred by injustice, especially in the areas where cobalt, an essential component for lithium-ion batteries, is mined. In places like the Democratic Republic of Congo, workers face exploitative conditions, with human rights violations rampant in the extraction process. It’s a harsh reality that should make us reconsider how the raw materials powering our tech-driven world are sourced. However, the solution isn’t to condemn mining altogether. After all, many of the resources that shape modern life—our phones, our electric cars, our renewable energy systems—depend on mining. The challenge is ensuring that these resources are sourced responsibly, with the well-being of workers and the environment prioritized over profits. There are alternatives emerging, such as Fairphones—mobile phones sourced with care for both people and planet. Companies like Fairphone work to ensure that raw materials like cobalt are mined under ethical conditions, providing fair wages and safer environments for workers. This approach reflects a deeper commitment to responsible sourcing and fair labor practices, setting an example for industries across the globe. By shifting our purchasing habits to support brands that prioritize ethical supply chains, we can contribute to a positive change. Our choices as consumers may seem small, but they are a powerful form of influence. When we demand products that are responsibly sourced, we send a message to industries that human dignity and environmental stewardship matter. This is not just about individual action—it’s about collectively reimagining the way industries operate. Responsible sourcing is the path forward, ensuring that the raw materials essential to modern life are obtained in ways that respect both human rights and the environment. Together, we can drive this transformation, making ethical choices that reflect our values and create a more just world.

Business Head, Start-up expert, Sustainability champion, Circular Economy proponent, Recycling for Value
E-Waste Recycling requires far more attention than current! While it has manifold benefits, the bottleneck is the knowledge, availability & affordability of the Technology for recycling & extraction of Base , Precious , PGM & Rare Earth metals . The Technology options of Segregation, Shredding, Smelting , Electrowinning / Electrolysis are all well known & seemingly simple - individually. However the complete solution of all these pieces weaved together, with seamless flow & and reasonable scale , is residing with only a few global OEMs & hence exorbitantly costly . While there are numerous articles posted on collection/ recycling, there are very few on Technology options & evaluations . There is need to develop domestic solutions , technology options, technical / process consultants , set-up robust supply chains & create awareness. #unenvironmentprogramme #ewasterecycling #meity #preciousmetals #sustainability #circulareconomy

" BE GREEN" in industry 👀 🌍 1️⃣ One of the most important factors in the production sphere and the current "be green" way of thinking is the production of as little waste as possible and the reduction of the ecological footprint. 2️⃣ The best possible choice is laser technology, as it is a precise and environmentally friendly solution. In addition to its speed, its accuracy should also be mentioned, because it is also authoritative in industrial use. 3️⃣ With the fibersx technology, they are able to perform more functions than the previously used equipment. Its maintenance costs are very low compared to conventional machines, because there are no wearing parts.
