Net Zero Transition Manager

Delighted to be involved with this event for the second time. Shannon Chamber have pulled together something that is pretty unique - a whole week of events relating to Sustainability – in all it’s facets. As an Energy Utility with assets in every townland in the Country there’s total alignment between the pillars of the Conference and what we are working on – Energy, Waste, Water and Biodiversity. On Wednesday I spoke about the journey from ‘Renewable energy’ to a much wider understanding of what it means to embrace Sustainability – our People, the Communities we work in, the materials we use and re-use and of course the Customers we are enabling to make their own transition to ‘net zero’.   This is a great opportunity for us all to get out and hear from people in sectors we may never get to hear from. It’s somehow reassuring to know that others too find the journey hard, and that nobody has all the answers. The key is to keep going – most important of all is that we actually do things. To borrow a quote that I heard from Owen Dignam in Microsoft last week – ‘don’t get ready – get started’. Let’s keep talking – and no better place than in the Banner county next week – where ESB started out almost 100 years ago as Ireland's first Clean Energy Startup. #SustainabilityWeek #NetZero #HydrogenPower #ESB  #CommunityPartnerships #SustainableFuture #Ardnacrusha

Our Net Zero by 2040 strategy demonstrates our commitment to building a resilient electricity system of the future. This week Sean Hegarty, Net Zero Transition Manager, outlined our strategy at the launch of Shannon Chamber of Commerce's Sustainability Week. Comprising of a mix of in-person and online events, each day focuses on a specific theme – Waste, Water, Energy and Biodiversity culminating with a day long conference on October 2nd.
