Celebrating 5 Years of Innovation and Impact Since our journey began on January 01, 2019, the Alectra GRE&T Centre has achieved many remarkable impactful milestones. From developing the transformative energy app, GridExchange, and watching it transition from concept to a commercial reality, to the Advantage Power Pricing (APP) project which set the groundwork for the Ultra-low Overnight pricing (https://lnkd.in/gsft8NT6), positively impacting EV drivers in Ontario. The IESO York Region Non-Wires Alternatives Demonstration Project made history as North America's first local energy marketplace, showcasing our commitment to pioneering solutions. Projects like POWER.HOUSE® and PowerHouse Hybrid helped empower households to participate in the ongoing energy transition. Through programs like AlectraDrive, our innovation team helped drive Alectra's emobility strategy. The past year marked a significant leap as we embraced generative AI and ventured into the Data and Enterprise Architecture domain, resulting in increased efficiency. We capped off 2023 with the historic achievement of Zero Carbon Building status for our Guelph Southgate office. Ucaneo is pioneering a biomimetic approach to carbon capture, inspired by the human lung's CO2 management process. Their innovative technology operates at room temperature, making it highly energy-efficient. Technology • Ucaneo's DAC system uses a specialized biomimetic solvent to remove atmospheric CO2, concentrating it into pure gas for industrial use. • The technology is designed for rapid iterations, leveraging proven components and a modular architecture suitable for global deployment. • Their goal: remove 0.5 GT of CO2 from the air by 2035 – equivalent to ~1% of global annual CO2 emissions!
