Since 2018, our family has partnered with the Congenital Heart Defect Coalition to raise money for CHD research, inspired by our oldest son’s journey with his own critical heart defect. Jack has been the beneficiary of advancements made in the past 30 years, without which he would not live the vibrant life he does today. Much of today’s research is cutting edge, incredibly necessary and will absolutely brighten the outlook for future generations of children. Jack may not benefit from most of today’s discoveries. However, we believe strongly in a ‘pay it forward’ mindset, knowing that what we do today will improve the lives of children many years from now. Over the past five years, we have raised over $100,000 for CHD research. We’re proud of what we’ve been able to achieve and it’s entirely due to the generosity of our friends, families and colleagues (special shout out to the folks at J.P. Morgan Private Bank and Goldman Sachs here). We’re forever appreciative of the support. There are a lot of myths and misconceptions that surround all forms of organ and tissue donation, including donating eye tissue. Even though the U.S. has one of the most robust cultures of donation, a lot of people still have concerns. Over the coming weeks, STRYDE4 will be sharing a snapshot of the high impact projects that our inaugural STRYDE4 Day on 4.4.24  will be supporting.  Cerebral Palsy Alliance is just one of the incredible charities that STRYDE4 has partenered with, to raise much needed funds to improve the lives of those living with cerebral palsy in Australia. Below are the two high impact projects that will be funded by their participants taking part in the 21km walk or 14km ocean paddle on STRYDE4 Day. Project 1 – Babies at Risk In Australia, every 20 hours a baby is diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Research shows that early intervention including intensive, repetitive, task-specific exercise should start for children diagnosed with cerebral palsy within the first 12 months. At this time, a baby’s brain is developing rapidly and has the ability to rewire. CPA’s Babies at Risk program maximises the opportunity to harness the neuroplasticity of baby’s brains by providing early response therapy with an individual therapy plan created for each baby and their family. Project 2 – Cerebral Palsy Research Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Institute accelerates breakthroughs in prevention, interventions and cures for cerebral palsy. Their vision is to enable the world’s best cerebral palsy experts to find ways to prevent and treat cerebral palsy, a condition affecting more than 17 million people worldwide.
