This is a stark contrast to recent leadership. It highlights the significance of paying close attention to the quality of inputs vs outputs, speaking up when necessary, and having complete trust in "the process". #standards #betrue #praisetheinput
I saw this clip online this week of Sir Alex speaking after Aberdeen won a cup final against Rangers. I don’t think I can ever put into words properly the impact on my life of this man. But I’m going to try. I was so lucky to be exposed to this standard every day for 21 years where even winning might not be enough to satisfy. Playing for him was a complete contradiction. He gave me so much belief and confidence without me ever feeling comfortable or safe. I’m not sure if that makes sense but the only way I can describe it is like having that little bit of fear from your parent if you let them down, but knowing they would love you and adore you to the end. Don’t drop below your standards. Ever! Winning in style, with risk and excitement, were consistent demands. A continual challenge every day to maintain “The Level”. Those eyes were scary but would glisten if he was happy with a simple well done son! I’ve never met anyone like him and I’m not sure there is anyone like Sir Alex.
