Kenya Wildlife Service released safety tips you can use in case you come face to face with an hyena. 1. Stop: Running may trigger their predatory instincts. 2. Do not lie down: Pretending to be dead can increase their curiosity. 3. Remain calm: Avoid showing fear and maintain a calm demeanor by talking to the hyena. 4. Minimize movements at night: Hyenas are nocturnal, so be cautious when moving during nighttime. 5. Face the hyena: Do not move away until it does, and continue facing its direction. 6. Stand your ground: If the hyena growls or giggles, stand your ground, but do not move closer. 7. Make noise: Be loud, look aggressive, and appear frightening to deter the hyena.#safety #securityguard #securityconsulting #securityassessment #securityawareness

Aichi Prefectural Police selects Bell 505 Helicopter for its operations Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. company, announced that the Aichi Prefectural Police in Japan has placed an order for the Bell 505 helicopter for airborne law enforcement. When delivered, Aichi Prefecture will be the first in Asia Pacific to operate the Bell 505 for police work. “This marks a new chapter for the Bell 505 in law enforcement missions in the region. While a single-engine aircraft, the efficiency and utility of the Bell 505 cannot be understated for parapublic and law enforcement roles. It enhances an agency’s response capabilities in any situation or environment, we look forward to the smooth delivery of the Bell 505s to the Aichi Prefectural Police.” Takuya Masamura, country manager, Japan, Bell Since its introduction in 2017, there are over a hundred Bell 505s flying in Asia Pacific and Bell has delivered more than 505 Bell 505s worldwide that have clocked more than 100,000 global flight hours. The Bell 505 has gained increasing popularity among law enforcement agencies in recent years. Several U.S. law enforcement organizations, such as the Fort Worth Police Department, Omaha Police Department, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Division of Law Enforcement, and Nebraska State Patrol now employ the Bell 505 in their fleets. Its integrated avionics and dual channel FADEC controlled engine provide pilots enhanced situational awareness and reduced workload, allowing for effective operations in diverse conditions. April 11 is #NationalPetDay One of CBP's missions is to inspect imports looking for endangered wildlife species such as wild birds, land or marine mammals, reptiles, and even fish that may be illegally destined for breeding operations, pet shop or private sales with some becoming family pets. Illegal wildlife trafficking is one of the most profitable natural resource crimes. Combatting wildlife trafficking poses significant challenges to national security. Criminal groups and dangerous international networks involved in drug trafficking, arms trafficking, human smuggling, and other crimes are often also involved in wildlife trafficking. Today the Government published their response to last year’s consultation on hedgerow protections, and reaffirmed its commitment to bringing back these crucial safeguards. A huge thank you to everyone who has responded to the consultation and emailed MPs as part of our #HelpOurHedgerows campaign, calling for our rural hedgerows to retain their 2m buffer strip and be protected from cutting from 1st March to 31st August during the bird nesting season. The swell of support for hedgerow protection amongst farmers and the public alike is heartening, and together, we look forward to seeing this urgently implemented. These protections are vital for safeguarding our threatened wildlife, and clearly have overwhelming support, with over 96% of respondents and 82% of farmers in the Government consultation saying they are in favour of their continuation. While the direction has been set, we now urge the Government to act as soon as possible. More info on our campaign here: https://lnkd.in/dEu5JmYP #NatureCantWait

Even before the outbreak of civil war in the Central African Republic more than a decade ago, issues like poaching, wildlife trafficking, and armed violence have threatened both wildlife and local communities in the country’s national parks and protected areas. While perhaps not immediately obvious, efforts towards forging peace are intertwined with protecting the environment. As part of its peacebuilding work, Concordis has been bringing together local settled communities, herders, and ecologists to address these challenges and try to find a common vision of peace. #CentralAfricanRepublic #Peacebuilding #Conservation #CAR #EnvironmentProtection
