Women in tech face an uphill battle when it comes to receiving recognition for their hard work, progressing into leadership roles and being paid fairly - but they don't have to face these challenges alone. Below are 3 females in New York who have made it their mission to foster community amongst women at their company. ⭐ Jacqueline Hang @ Zocdoc After experiencing imposter syndrome when comparing herself to her male colleagues, Hong quickly learnt the important of seeking validation & support from her manager to succeed in her role. At Zocdoc, she joined the leadership council to create a community of women who can uplift and reassure one another. ⭐ Hadley Riegel @ Templafy Riegel is a lead for an employee resource group, which aims to promote a positive & inclusive work environment for women. Riegel has seen first hand the positive impact mentorship can have on an organisation's greatest asset - talent. Fostering a community amongst women provides access to the support and resources necessary to aspire and advance into leadership roles. ⭐ Meghan Kirby @ Meetup As a co-leader of Women of Meetup, Kirby provides resources to enhance women's leadership skills, foster community and creativity, and provide opportunities. Kirby understands the challenges women in tech face, so establishing a network of women fosters a supportive environment where women can share experiences, bond over interests and build skills. What more can be done to create a community for women in technology? #WomenInTech #Community #Technology

Today I had the privilege to be part of the Women in Technology panel, Navigating Career Growth: Mentorship vs Sponsorship with the amazing Anitha Yeddula, Heather Blair and Valeri Vanourek. A fun and dynamic discussion, and we took a moment to recognize Val's 18-year anniversary with Discover Financial Services! Key takeaways: Be intentional, look for mentors that will be truth-tellers and help you build the skills that you need; Be prepared when you meet with your mentors in order to truly benefit from their guidance; Don't shy away from feedback because it provides opportunity to grow and improve; Take on work that nobody else wants to do - solve problems and create your own "signature successes". Sponsors will arise when you do good work! This is #lifeatdiscover. #discoveremployee #womenintech

CEO of Equality Group/ Inclusion Advocate/ Strategic Leader for Asset Management,Tech, Corporates and Public Sectors
🌟 Elevating DEI: Transparency Matters 🌟 📊 When companies openly share their DEI data, they set a powerful precedent, not just for their own organisation, but for the entire industry. Here's why: 1️⃣Raising the Bar: By making DEI metrics public, companies set a higher standard for accountability and excellence. It's not just about meeting basic requirements; it's about striving for continuous improvement and becoming the best. 2️⃣ Encouraging Best Practice: Transparency breeds inspiration. When companies see their peers leading the charge in DEI initiatives, it motivates them to step up their game. 3️⃣Driving Meaningful Change: Every data point shared is an opportunity for growth. When companies have access to a wealth of DEI information, they can identify areas for improvement, implement targeted strategies, and ultimately drive tangible progress towards a more inclusive environment. This is why we use Honordex - to openly learn from one another, to pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future. #EqualityGroup #Honordex #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #DEI #Transparency #InclusionMatters #BetterTogether

There's still time to register for tomorrow's webinar on ecosystems of #inclusion! WEPAN and ACCESSPlus STEM are hosting Shani Dellimore Barrax (Barrax Moore), founder of the Aurora Change Agency LLC, on Thursday, March 7 at 3pm. The webinar is open, and we encourage folks working to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging to attend! As diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) efforts strive to endure recent attacks, organizations must consider how to develop sustainable strategies with demonstrated impact. Many well-intentioned efforts are undermined by approaches that neither consider the broader implications of people and culture or the intrapersonal, interpersonal, and organizational intentionality required to facilitate successful results. In this session, participants will explore a model that proposes organizational change through broad engagement with both the "doing" AND the "being" of this important work.
