Lithuanian startup Biomatter recently secured €6.5 million in seed funding to advance its generative AI platform for enzyme design. The funding round was led by Inventure and UVC Partners, with participation from existing investors and industry experts. This significant investment will enable Biomatter to enhance its technology and accelerate the development of novel enzymes for various applications. Biomatter, founded by Donatas RepečkaLaurynas KarpusRolandas Meškys, and Vykintas Jauniskis, focuses on creating new proteins and enzymes using AI, aiming to revolutionize industries such as health, sustainable manufacturing, and agriculture. Their technology offers a more efficient approach to enzyme design, overcoming traditional trial-and-error methods and broadening potential applications. Biomatter has already partnered with notable companies like Thermo Fisher Scientific and BASF to produce unique enzymes. With the newly raised funds, Biomatter plans to expand its platform capabilities and meet increasing customer demand. Their goal is to push the boundaries of enzyme design, contributing to advancements in medicine, chemical manufacturing, and food production. This investment marks a significant step forward in the development of AI-driven synthetic biology.
