Over the past six months, we’ve performed well across our business.   Marco Simonetti highlights some of our key successes across our Continental European markets, underscoring our achievements through innovation.    In the second half of the year, we’re looking to build on this success as we continue to create the space to enable extraordinary things to happen.

Managing Director, Continental Europe at SEGRO

A view of SEGRO plc's half year results from Continental Europe.   Following our recently published half year results, I wanted to share a few thoughts from Continental Europe. The first half of 2024 has been extremely busy, with very solid investment activity supporting our ambition to create the space to enable extraordinary things to happen.   In Continental Europe, we have demonstrated a concerted effort to push the boundaries with the sustainability of our developments. This means we can respond to the growing needs of our customers, while being sympathetic to our surroundings. Here’s some highlights of what we’ve achieved so far:   🇵🇱 Poland: We completed a new development at SEGRO Logistics Park Strykow: an 18,000 sq m logistics hub with a focus on sustainability, including beehives, insect hotels and 50 KW of photovoltaic panels; showing how innovation allows us to meet the changing demands of occupiers in an increasingly sustainable way.   🇪🇸 Spain: In Barcelona, we delivered a 40,000 sq m facility for Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial, equipped with a 507 KW solar installation and air source heat pump delivering more efficient energy use.   🇩🇪 Germany: We started work on our first fully timber-framed logistics centre at SEGRO Logistics Centre Hamburg Neu Wulmstorf. This is set to complete by early 2025, offering 22,000 sq m of space and reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 14% compared to traditional methods. 🇮🇹 Italy: We have sold a portfolio consisting of four warehouses, two located in Milan and two in Rome for a total floor space of 338,745 sq m. The total cash consideration for the disposal was €327 million, slightly ahead of 30 June 2024 book value   There are many other things I would like to celebrate, but don’t have the time or space to cover them all. But in France we are making significant strides on our innovative, multi-level underground logistics facility at Les Gobelins; in Italy we completed SEGRO Logistics Park Naples 3 which is fully let to SDA Poste Italiane and features outdoor green spaces complemented by a grove of 100 lemon trees; in The Netherlands you might have seen my recent post about three new assets we acquired building scale in this important logistics market; and in the Czech Republic there is a great example of how we are managing our assets and retaining customers with Ikea’s lease renewal at SEGRO Logistics Park Prague.   A big thank you to our team for their dedication and to our customers for working with us as part of their own growth journeys.
