Compatibility Check ✅: Review all your apps and custom features to ensure they're compatible with JIRA Cloud. Some server plugins may not have a direct cloud equivalent, or they may work differently on the cloud platform. 2. Data Preparation 🗑️: Clean up your data on the JIRA Server before moving. Removing unwanted issues, configurations, and attachments will streamline your migration process. 3. User Management 👥: Understand how users and groups will be migrated. In most cases, you'll need to recreate groups and user directories in JIRA Cloud. 4. API Changes 🔁: The APIs in JIRA Cloud are RESTful, unlike in Server. If you have any integrations using APIs, they may need to be redeveloped. 5. Security & Compliance 🔒: JIRA Cloud and Server have different security architectures. Good question! Our User Management app is available in Atlassian Cloud, on Data Center, and supports a "hybrid" working mode – when a DC instance can connect to Cloud and manage Cloud users in bulk. Since the email address is used as the username in Atlassian Cloud, you should never have two users with the same address in the Cloud or "hybrid" mode. Here, the CSV filtering by email, combined with the ability to specify, include and exclude filters simultaneously, could help you with these 3-way merges that the original post mentioned, e.g., assuming you want to migrate from Data Center to Cloud and connect an Identity Provider via Atlassian Guard for SSO and User Provisioning – to see "orphan" users needing attention: export users from Data Center and IdP, then use as two CSV filters to show users already in Cloud based on emails that will be coming from Data Center, excluding anyone present in the export from the IdP. ⚠⚠⚠ On Data Center, multiple users with the same email address are possible. When filtering by email, User Management will select all user records that match the provided email address, so yes, beware of duplicates. ⚠⚠⚠ These days, migration tools from Atlassian support multiple options to deal with duplicate and invalid emails, including automatically merging user content during migration, but we often opt to do explicit repeatable cleanup, merge, and anonymisation operations before we migrate in an intermediate environment using Data Protection and Security Toolkit apps for Jira and Confluence from Actonic GmbH. We also often rename the emails at source in bulk using Groovy scripts running in ScriptRunner by Adaptavist. #thankyou As a Product Manager for User Management, I keep considering bringing these into the product as native features, but why bother if these other apps work so well? I would love to know what other Partners do in these situations and whether diverting resources from Cloud development to add some migration-specific features to DC is worth it. #usermanagement #everykeystrokematters

There are so many users, but there is one email. So many emails, one user?! Does this story sound familiar? When we migrate customers to Atlassian Cloud from Data Center, and they already have users in the Cloud, we need to reconcile user accounts—see who is there, who isn't, and whose email needs updating. The same applies when there is an external IdP like Entra ID involved. A three-way merge is a struggle! 🚨 🆘 😱   User Management app to the rescue! 🙋♂️🛟 🙌 Now, you can upload a CSV file to select users and act on them in bulk based on their email. ✉ Solution Partners – take note!   "One CSV to find them all, and in the Cloud, bind them" see our latest Loom: https://lnkd.in/gAMPEchV   You can find this feature on the Bulk User Actions page, where users can be searched and selected for bulk actions, such as adding or removing groups and deactivating them. The CSV-based filtering now allows selecting users by their email addresses.
