You will Just Love our Specialty Burgers for Any Occasion! Our Pit Master Chef Ed loves to Cook BBQ & Burgers! Jalapeño-onion Smash Burgers! A spicy and savory beef burger topped with thinly sliced jalapeños and onions, served with a creamy homemade burger sauce. Ingredients : 3 tablespoons mayonnaise. 1 1/2 tablespoons ketchup. 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder. 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt. 1 1/2 pounds high-quality 80% lean ground beef. 1 teaspoon canola oil. 1 large yellow onion, very thinly sliced (about 2 cups). 1 large jalapeño chile, very thinly sliced (about 1/2 cup). 1 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt, divided. 3/4 teaspoon black pepper, divided. 4 American cheese slices. 4 soft hamburger buns, split and toasted. Directions : Combine the sauce ingredients in a bowl, mix well, cover it and refrigerate. Divide beef into eight equal portions, shaping each into a ball. Preheat a grill with a cast-iron skillet to high heat. Coat skillet with oil, arrange onion mounds on skillet and top with jalapeño slices. Season onion and jalapeño mounds with salt and pepper. Cook them untouched until the onions begin to brown. Place beef balls atop each onion mound and press to flatten with baking paper, shaping into patties. Season patties with the remaining salt and pepper and cook until edges crisp. Flip patties to have onion-jalapeño side up and top four patties with cheese. Cook until cheese melts, stack the cheese-topped patties with plain ones. Place each double patty stack onto a bun base, spread sauce on the top buns.
