I went to 1871 International Women's Month 👸🏽 event without knowing a single person, but I am here for the moments of bravery 💪🏽. It was a bit intimidating at first, but everyone who attended was so welcoming and excited to get to learn from each other✨. Here are three takeaways I walked away with from the event: 1. Active Listening 👂🏽 : I made sure to really listen to the speakers and learn from them. When they talked about giving back to the community, I started thinking about how I could integrate my own vision work with their company's efforts. How could future collaboration take place? 2. Personal Growth 🌱 : I've been diving into the world of Venture Capital and Angel Investing lately because I really want to be an angel investor in the future. Meeting women who've actually done it and hearing about their journeys made my own goals feel way more achievable and less scary. 3. Networking 🫱🏽🫲🏾 : Even though I didn't know anyone at first, I left the event with 10 new LinkedIn connections, 2 virtual coffee dates set up to talk about collaborating, and 1 in-person meeting scheduled to chat about scaling my business. So, by just putting myself out there, really listening, and learning from these amazing women, I turned a potentially nerve-wracking experience into an incredible opportunity for both personal and professional growth. Check your girl out within the first 5 seconds of their video 🎥📸🤳🏽

What are you looking for when joining your local Women in STEM community? It has been more than one year since launching our website. Our #community has grown not only in size, but also in scope and diversity. The most frequent reasons why women join our group are: 🤝 They want to expand their professional network. Some do not actively profess in a STEM field, but would like to meet women who do. 📚 They are intellectually curious human beings and want to gain knowledge of various STEM topics. 🪩 They want to make friends, have fun and explore the city with fellow women. Yes, fun is allowed. So how about you? What kind of support are you seeking within your local Women in STEM community? #womeninstem

Please share the STEM Moms Project Final Report. This is a quick, actionable and easy read full of valuable suggestions. Julie Hawco, P.Eng offers us bullet points of gold takeaways. My biggest takeaways from this are: 1. The first recommendation is to increase support for mid to late career women in STEM. Programs that at the beginning of career or only for leaders miss A LOT of people. 2. We need to be mindful that supportive spaces and initiatives don't turn into more unpaid labor for a group already short on time. 2. This report is for everyone! All people can be an ally. If you have never wondered if your career was impacted by your gender or parenthood, this report is for you. 3. Elevating Untitled leaders and Dual Career Families benefits all people. We should normalize the experience that most professionals are having.
The STEM Moms Project Final Report is here! www.stemmomsproject.com This work is a gift to be shared with as many people as possible - specifically individuals and organizations that are invested in supporting both Women in STEM and Parents. It is for women's organizations, not for profits and businesses; Leaders, teammates, co-parents, spouses, families and friends of STEM Mothers. It is for anyone who is invested in supporting and retaining both Women and Parents in the workplace through the mid-career life phase. Please share with your networks and connect if you have feedback. To the many contributors, collaborators and supporters - THANK YOU for being part of this initiative. #womeninstem #parentsinstem #workingparents #dualcareerfamilies #stemmothers #womenintheworkforce

What does it mean to be an ally and why are allies important? The NCWIT (National Center for Women & Information Technology) Male Allies and Advocates Toolkit is a great place to start exploring information like why majority group allies are important in STEM fields and what they should be advocating for. The toolkit explains that allies advocate for and work to create more inclusive environments or cultures that will ultimately benefit everyone. In the world of STEM, there are ample opportunities for innovation and growth, yet we as women face unique challenges. I believe that with the right support and strategies, women in STEM can overcome these obstacles and lead transformative change. Here's how women in technical roles can advocate for greater workplace equity: 🦋Support Each Other: Building a network of allies enhances our collective strength. 🦋Raise Awareness: Educate others about the challenges and opportunities for women in STEM. 🦋Push for Equity: Work towards an inclusive environment that promotes advancement for all. Together, we can reshape the future of STEM, turning challenges into opportunities for impactful change. Let's use our voices to drive this change! 💪🏾Our voices are powerful—let's make them heard! 📢 #WomenInSTEM #Advocacy #Leadership #EquityInSTEM

The concept of solopreneurs isn't new, but what's different in today's world is the focus on how much growth can be positively impacted if solopreneurs are connected into a network of their peers. Building a community for a specific audience with several different ways for a person to choose to participate is a critical factor in inclusion and accessibility. Our Women Forward initiaive looks to do just that. Learn more: https://ow.ly/vVHn50Sa3mh
