Our mission is to get kids playing and keep them playing by providing the necessary equipment. Benefit Ride for Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County Calling all riders! On September 15th, Durex Industries organized and sponsored a motorcycle benefit ride to support the Big Brothers and Big Sisters (BBBS) of McHenry County. It was a beautiful morning for our volunteers to take a two-hour motorcycle ride across parts of McHenry County, followed by a post-ride team BBQ at Durex Industries to recognize the BBBS mission for youth mentoring. Each of our eleven riders, plus passengers and supporting team-members found individual sponsors and raised awareness within the community and at Durex for this program. Donations raised by our team for BBBS, including a company match, totaled over $2600. Big Brothers and Big Sisters is a non-profit organization which is 100% funded from donations. It is a community based one-to-one mentoring model that matches children (a Little) ages 6-18 with an adult mentor (a Big)! The Big and Little spend time together 2-4 times per month doing activities that interest them, such as biking/hiking, lunch/dinner, local festivals, sporting events, attending workshops/classes and so much more. Why mentoring matters. There are many children that face adversity in their lives every day, which can prevent them from realizing their full potential and a brighter future. BBBS, and the mentors, work towards a common goal to change the direction of the Little’s lives and help set them on a path forward to reach their full potential. BBBS has found that by engaging a Big & a Little, that the Littles have more self-confidence, improved grades & classroom behavior, are less like to use drugs or alcohol, improved relationships with their family & friends and even set goals for after high school. #giveback #donate #mentor #volunteer

The joy of doing the school run… Son : Papa. Me : Oui, Nico. Son : Did you know? There are very few dolphins left in the world. Me : Oh, really? Why? Son : Because they keep getting caught in fishing net and this killing them. Me : Oh, that’s awful. Son : Yes it is. We should give the fishermen training so they ORANGE CAR !!! so they can be more careful what they catch in their nets. Or soon we won’t have dolphins in the world anymore. I learnt that yesterday. Working with Herman Moore in Stack Brands, we get to test content and platforms knowing people will engage. The same was true when I managed social media for the Detroit Lions ... I would envision thousands of people watching their feeds, waiting for a post so they could engage. That's how fast people would respond. Creating content for brands working for their visibility is an entirely different beast. It's knowing the audiences exist, but pinpointing the way to reach them through content and algorithms. Both groups involve working with influencers. Understanding one content process benefits the other, and vice versa. 24 January 2024 Of Threads and Needles... Meet a set of talented and creative friends, one of a few sets, who are also my #sistersnasikawah embarking on yet another crafts project for #charity. And the cause we're championing this time? Hint: green, red, and black. And #watermelon! As usual, when it comes to pins and needles and threads and pieces of cloths, the project leader has to be Nik Ainun or fondly known as Nikky. The GoodOnes Quilting Sisters, they are called...because they started with Nikky teaching a group of the GoodOnes quilting, and they have moved on to other sewing related #projects since. To support the cause of this project, they took orders for pencil cases, boxy pouches, and tote bags. All with watermelon as the theme. For now, orders are confined to us, the GoodOnes (TKC MCE'79). Given time and resources, Nikky plans to open her classes, and the orders to other interested parties. A fun and fulfilling way to occupy oneself #postretirement, in-between running businesses and households, don't you think? Can't wait to get my boxy pouch and tote bag. I know Arlina Ariff, Wan Hailah Wan Yahya, Mastura Abdul Rahman, and Razimah Hanim Abu-Zarim will produce top notch quality work! And what about you...what do you fill your in-between time with?
