February is all about hearts—and more than just on Valentines Day. This is American Heart Month. “During American Heart Month, we’re celebrating all the bold hearts who have made an impact in saving lives through CPR,” said Nancy Brown, American Heart Association chief executive officer. “At the American Heart Association, it’s our vision to advance health and hope for everyone, everywhere. Children as young as nine can learn CPR and since nearly 3 out of 4 cardiac arrests that do not happen in a hospital, occur in the home, it's critical that all families know how to perform CPR.” CPR – or cardiopulmonary resuscitation – is an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating. During American Heart Month, the Association is offering four ways to learn CPR and join the Nation of Lifesavers, as an individual, family, organization or community at heart.org/nation. FYI: Hands-only CPR is quick and easy to learn and does not involve any mouth-to-mouth contact. Are you prepared to save a life—perhaps of someone you love? #Amercanheartmonth #cpr #Americanheartmonth2024 #firstaid #hearthealth I usually post about job search strategies, the legal industry, and the California legal job market. Imagine this: You’re at a soccer game, watching the teams play, when suddenly someone collapses nearby. There’s a moment of shock, then panic, as people scramble to understand what’s happening. Cardiac arrest is swift and silent, and without immediate intervention, it’s almost always fatal. In fact, more than 350,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the United States each year, and nearly 90% of those people don’t make it. The reason? Less than half of them receive the help they need before professional responders arrive. Every minute without CPR reduces a victim’s chance of survival by 7%-10%. This is the stark reality we face: more people die from cardiac arrest each year than from breast cancer, prostate cancer and car accidents combined. It’s an invisible crisis that we, as a society, have the power to change - but only if we’re willing to act. Take, for example, the story of Jason Rosema, one of our Corewell Health resource athletic trainers. Last week, Jason was attending a soccer game when he was called to the parking lot to help a parent who had collapsed. The situation was dire: the parent was unresponsive, without a pulse and gasping for breath - a classic sign of cardiac arrest. Jason, trained in CPR, immediately took action, performing compressions and using an AED. By the time emergency medical professionals arrived, the parent was breathing again. That’s the power of knowing what to do in a moment of crisis. Stories like Jason’s shouldn’t be the exception. They should be the norm. And that’s where organizations like the American Heart Association come in. For over 100 years, the AHA has been leading the charge in CPR training, education and advocacy. They’ve trained millions in Hands-Only CPR, a simple technique that can double or even triple the chances of survival when administered immediately. Now you know the reason why Corewell Health is a proud sponsor of the AHA’s Heart Walk. Because when it comes to saving lives, there’s no time to wait. I encourage you to rally your family, friends, and coworkers to join us on Saturday October 5th. Let’s walk together and help meet our goal with contributions that support this essential cause. https://lnkd.in/eviWajP5 #CPRSavesLives #HeartWalk2024 #CardiacArrestAwareness #SaveALife #HandsOnlyCPR #HealthCareHeroes #CommunityHealth

Happy EMS Week! Honoring Our Past. Forging Our Future. Half a century ago, a presidential proclamation called on the nation to support efforts to improve emergency medical care across the country. It also established the first national EMS Week, a tradition we proudly continue today. Much has changed since 1974, yet there is still much we can learn from those trailblazing professionals who helped EMS evolve into the sophisticated branch of medicine it is today. Their dedication, commitment and sacrifice inspire us to take bold steps of our own, to continue to seek out ways to better serve our patients and our communities. This year, we celebrate EMS Week by honoring our past—by taking a pause to recognize the contributions of each generation, the people who dreamed that we could save more lives and have less suffering, and then found ways to make it happen. EMS Week is never just about the past, however. It’s also about inspiring the EMS professionals just starting out and the young people who haven’t even discovered EMS yet. It’s about learning from the challenges and building on the successes of the last five decades. It’s about forging our future—a future in which the next generation has the tools they need to deliver compassionate care and alleviate suffering in communities everywhere.

Cynthia: Oh ….. Are you okay ? Are you fine ? No response; the Middle Aged man fell to the ground, gasping for breath, with no pulse and no obvious respiration. Cynthia in rapid action, ensure her scene is safe, bend low and tap the man for responsiveness, absolutely there was no pulse and respiration. Immediately, Cynthia activated the emergency 🚨 response system and began Chest Compression. After few cycles of Compression, the victim opened his eyes and asked “ what has happened “ As Cynthia tried to reassure the victim, the wailing sound of an ambulance 🚑 was heard at a closed range, the emergency 🚨 response service arrived and the victim was taken in for post resuscitation care. Cynthia was so excited 😆 and joyful because she just saved a life that probably many lives live on, just with her Basic Life Support Skill (BLS) You need to learn this skill. Your household needs to learn this skill. Your driver needs to learn this skill. Everyone needs to learn this skill. Because anyone can have cardiac arrest. Do you care to join our next Basic Life Support (BLS) training session or other life saving skills? Check the training schedule for the year and book your training session under American Heart Association Every live worth living! DM for more clarification and enquiry

The RJC is excited to announce our inaugural Wales Conference, set to take place in Cardiff on Thursday, 16th May 2024. Join us as we explore the intersection between restorative culture and community transformation and growth. The premise of this conference is rooted in the principle that people possess the abilities to devise their own solutions in the face of difficulties, be it in an educational setting, in their community, at home, or within the justice system. Restorative practice provides values, culture and a reliable structure for relational and trauma informed practice in any context. The different approaches help build, maintain and repair relationships and grow community strengths, to prevent and address conflicts effectively. A restorative approach prioritises inclusion and diversity of perspectives to problem solve well, promoting healing and reconciliation rather than punishment and exclusion. Restorative practice is most effective when implemented as part of a larger restorative culture, where communities are empowered to utilise their own strengths and resources before professional interventions that may have an impact on their lives. When all members of a community are fully committed to fostering a restorative culture, it provides the foundation for transforming conflicts into opportunities for personal and collective learning and success. A community that fully embraces restorative practice has the potential to cultivate a safer, more joyful, and more productive environment for all individuals involved. Central to this is implementing strategies to cultivate a thriving community culture centred on restorative principles. This entails examining ways to assist and enhance the efforts of various organisations that serve and support the community, such as schools, workplaces, criminal justice services, healthcare providers, and local government services, in establishing and integrating their own restorative culture. It is only by accomplishing this that we can establish a suitable environment for empowering communities to embrace restorative practice.
