  • We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Illeana Piña, Quality Officer for the Heart and Vascular Service Line at Jefferson Health, will be joining us as a guest speaker at the Women’s Cardiovascular Symposium on October 11. Dr. Piña will present her expertise on "Sex Differences in HFpEF." Odayme Quesada, MD, MHS, FACC, FAHA, FESC With a distinguished career in heart failure research, Dr. Piña's work spans areas such as transition of care, natriuretic peptide-guided management, and heart failure differences by sex. Her dedication to addressing gender, racial, and ethnic disparities in healthcare has led to over 300 publications on these topics! In recognition of her impact to women's heart health, Dr. Piña was honored in 2017 with the Wenger Award for Excellence in Research and recently received the American Heart Association's Meritorious Achievement Award for her work with high school students at AHA's National Sessions. The Women's Cardiovascular Symposium is intended for cardiologists, internal medicine physicians, primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals who are involved in the management of cardiovascular disease in women.   • We're thrilled to announce that Lisa Larkin MD FACP NCMP, Founder and CEO of Ms.Medicine, will be joining as a guest speaker at the Women’s Cardiovascular Symposium on October 11. Dr. Larkin will present her engaging talk, "My Hormones Made Me Do It." With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Larkin is a nationally recognized expert in women’s health, menopause, sexual medicine, and breast health. She is Founder and CEO of Ms. Medicine, a pioneering healthcare organization focused on advancing women’s health through innovative care models and education. Additionally, Dr. Larkin leads Concierge Medicine of Cincinnati, a practice dedicated to Internal Medicine and Women’s Health. Dr. Larkin is also a leader within The Menopause Society, serving on the Board of Trustees and currently as President. She has previously held roles as Treasurer and Scientific Program Chair. A Yale and University of Chicago-trained physician, her contributions to women’s health are nothing short of inspiring.     We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Nanette Wenger, Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine, as our keynote speaker for the Women's Cardiovascular Symposium on October 11. Dr. Wenger will present on 'How Far We’ve Come in Women’s Heart Disease.' In a legendary career that spans over 50 years, Dr. Wenger’s pioneering clinical and research efforts have made her one of the most respected experts on women’s heart disease, changing a major paradigm in cardiology: the assumption that heart disease affects only men. Dr. Wenger has earned dozens of awards in her celebrated career, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American College of Cardiology; a Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Heart Federation; and the Gold Heart Award, the highest award of the American Heart Association. The Women's Cardiovascular Symposium is intended for cardiologists, internal medicine physicians, primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals who are involved in the management of cardiovascular disease in women.
