"10 Sustainable University Buildings We Love". Note #4 on the list: Romney Hall at MSU went from adored by many generations of MSU students, to rejected because it lost its relevance, and back to adored again. We breathed new life into this old building. One of the most impactful sustainable design strategies is to create spaces we enjoy, places where we can connect, flexibility to stand the test of time, and buildings that we love. This ensures that the generations after us will take care of what we've created. https://lnkd.in/gfE7P8Fz

DESIGNING THE IRRESISTIBLE CIRCULAR SOCIETY....💡 ....´By designing products, services, experiences and systems to be irresistible, we aim for a future where sustainability in urban transformation becomes so attractive that it barely seems like a choice!´🙏 Today I had the pleasure of attending the DESIRE conference in BLOX to celebrate the result and dedicated work on the Desire project. The DESIRE project (Designing the Irresistible Circular Society) is one out of six ambitious lighthouse projects under the New European Bauhaus initiative, which was launched in 2021 to translate the European Green Deal into real, tangible change, bringing innovation, ambition, and creativity together to create a new vision for cities worldwide. The project illustrates that: 👉Local engagement initiatives played a crucial role in shaping the identity of places and sense of belonging 👉Cross-collaboration with a broad field of stakeholders ensures that various perspectives were considered in the development of the transformation 👉Institutional collaboration and governance are important to secure long-term success of urban transformation DESIRE aims to create a movement that sets new standards and develops methods for how Europe transforms existing urban spaces and creates new neighbourhoods through urban development, renovation and construction with respect for the planet and people's different ways of living. As we approach the project’s conclusion in November 2024, I look forward to seeing how this project will inspire further creativity to solve societal challenges and highlight the importance/potential of the creative industries such as art, design, and architecture to play key roles in exploring an irresistible circular society where….. 👉´SUSTAINABLE TRANSFORMATION BECOMES SO ATTRACTIVE THAT IT BARELY SEEMS LIKE A CHOICE! ´ 👈 In a common call to action, we are proud to have been a part of the Desire process together with BLOXHUB, Danish Architecture Center (Dansk Arkitektur Center), DDC – Danish Design Center and Danish Industry in the creation of a shared Danish proposal for the project. Sustainability - not just a trending word, a way of life lived for more than 50 years in Auroville! Back in 2018, the Urban Furniture and Place Making project focused on promoting sustainable urban design principles. This project went beyond just eco-friendly buildings. It had a more ambitious goal: to empower a new generation of leaders who understand the importance of both environmental and social justice. These future leaders will be equipped to drive positive change and create a more equitable future for all. series.GreenHouse is the second project recently complimented by Kingspan in the architectural Microhome competition. Series.GreenHouse embodies three core principles: shelter, subsistence, and scale, within an efficient 25-square-meter design. It prioritizes shelter by offering essential amenities in a compact, affordable manner, ensuring minimal waste and long-term cost-effectiveness. Our Rainwater Harvesting SLIMLINE TANK is part of the building design. Beyond mere housing, the design incorporates subsistence by functioning as a greenhouse, enabling residents to grow their own food and support community nourishment. The principle of scale is addressed through a modular system that allows for adaptable living configurations, such as GreenHouse.0, GreenHouse.1, and GreenHouse.2, to meet diverse needs. Additionally, the project maximizes the use of small spaces and provides fresh produce to local communities, enhancing both sustainability and local food security.
