“Medical Device Sales Rep” and “Pharmaceutical Sales Rep” were among the 5 highest-paying sales jobs in 2023 (according to a recent Forbes article). The average salary range given for a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep was $58,000-$103,000. For a Medical Device Sales Rep, the average salary range was reported to be $90,245-$130,362. I’m not sure how “real” the numbers are... But it isn't surprising that these jobs made the list. Candidates often ask about opportunities to move into “Pharma” or “Medical Device” sales jobs. While these might be the most popular and well-known sales roles within Life Sciences and Med Tech, especially among newbies, they are far from the only opportunities in the industry. Off the top of my head, here are a few opportunities that are as lucrative, if not higher-paying, than medical device and pharmaceutical sales: ✅ Business Development Director in Clinical Research ✅ Life Science/Diagnostics Capital Equipment Sales ✅ BioInformatics Services Sales ✅ Hospital Automation Sales ✅ Oncology Lab Services Sales ✅ Hospital/Medical IT and Technology Sales Even this list only scratches the surface.
