It's hard to believe it is 7 years on from the most tragic and shocking failure of a building in modern times. Grenfell has triggered a much needed shake up of legislation and changes to practice. This is throughout from product testing, design through to build management and quality. As an industry we don't need to just change our legislation but our attitude to building safety. Everyone should be safe in their home. as a newly qualified Architect, I always use Grenfell as a point of reflection. when I meet a client or contractor who argues why they have to follow our specifications because it 'costs more' I always remind them of the 72 people who lost their lives, and the families and neighbourhood which have been effected. The new changes in legislation have ensured attention is given to the safety of a building throughout it's use and start. I, as well as many of my peers are still finding our way through the new regulations. They are generally complex and in places not clear. It is imperative that as an industry we come together to ensure the new regulations are clear and unambiguous to avoid the repeat of such a tragedy.
Today marks 7 years since the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower. We remember the people who lost their lives, the survivors, and the bereaved. While building safety has improved, more must be done to prevent future tragedies. We are committed to working with the next Government and the sector to create a safer future for all.

Perhaps the most important clip you'll see today. What you're looking at are Americans hiking to bypass FEMA and get to others in need. It does NOT get more American than this. This gets me choked up. REPOST and let's honor these heroes and the victims. #thinblueline #lawenforcement

To Hell with Hurricane Helene As a former #emergencyresponder, I am accustomed to a brittle operating environment; balance can only occur with resources. As the death toll rises, communities in FEMA Region 4 need more resources. For those of us who are not part of organizations in the fight to save lives, We can donate! I am endorsing Samaritan's Purse. Families and people trying to contact loved ones can call 2-1-1 or visit unitedwaync.org to fill out a request form to add them to search and rescue efforts. For those impacted, an application for assistance can be made through disasterassistance.gov or 1-800-621-3362. The experience of Hurricane Helene changed so many communities because who would have ever thought a tropical storm could impact an inland mountain region? We all need to realize that while nature brings chaos and destruction, our collective strength lies in connections with one another. The importance of relationships, empathy, and collaboration highlights the fragility of our environment. As communities continue to weather the storm and upcoming storms that follow, let us embrace the philosophy that balance is vital to resilience. Hurricane Helene is more than just a storm; it catalyzes change, resilience, and unity. Let's unify a mindset to “love thy neighbor” and emerge stronger. We learn that amidst the chaos, we find strength in each other, and in that strength, we discover our true capacity as humans to weather any storm. I hope for the safety of all of our communities and emergency responders. Thank you all for your energy and tireless, selfless service.

Today marks the release of the Grenfell Tower - Phase 2 Report, a solemn reminder of the tragic events that claimed the lives of so many. My thoughts are with the families, friends, and communities who have borne the weight of this profound loss. No report can undo the past, but it can shed light on the mistakes made, lessons that must be learned, and the critical need for accountability and change. The contents of this report must be thoroughly examined and its findings acted upon with urgency. We owe it to those who lost their lives, and to future generations, to ensure that the mistakes that contributed to this tragedy are never repeated. Honor their memory by building a safer future, one rooted in transparency, responsibility, and a shared commitment to protecting life. https://lnkd.in/egeMJrqX #NeverForget #GrenfellTowerReport #Accountability #SafetyFirst

Chief Marketing Officer @ Tidal Basin Group | Drives Brand Growth in B2B/B2G | Leader and Builder of Great Teams | Ragan PR Daily's Top Women in Marketing Award | Forbes Communications Council | Built x Women DC Award
The tragic incident that destroyed the Francis Scott Key Bridge in my home state of Maryland yesterday was profoundly one of the saddest events I've witnessed in my lifetime. Every morning as I begin my day, I turn on the news to learn about what's happening locally and in the nation. Yesterday, grief-stricken tears rolled down my face while I watched in shock as the Key Bridge with cars and construction workers on it, collapsed into the Patapsco in a matter of seconds...SECONDS. It's incredibly surreal to see such an iconic structure completely collapse in a matter of seconds. On this morning's news, I watched Gov. Wes Moore as he discussed the search and rescue (now recovery) efforts, the lives lost and their families, the lives saved by our first responders, the affected jobs of 8K+ dock workers, the effects to a major travel route for more than 30K commuters, and the impact on not only Maryland's economy but the Nation's economy since Baltimore is one of the largest ports for cars, farming equipment, sugar and more. Being in the emergency management industry exposes me to many of these tragic situations, but this one really hit home because I was born in Baltimore and Maryland is my home. Hats off to Gov. Wes Moore, Aruna Miller, and Brandon M. Scott for taking the time to personally provide updates on the situation, for being boots on the ground, and for ensuring all partners and stakeholders come together quickly to forge the path toward recovery. Being a former civil engineer and now a marketing and communications professional working in the emergency management industry for Tidal Basin Group, I know the challenges that lie ahead with the rebuilding effort, but we will come back stronger than before! Governor, please call on us Marylanders and industry professionals to support whatever you need as the recovery efforts begin. #MarylandTough #BaltimoreStrong
My office is in close communication with U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott, Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr, and the Baltimore City Fire Department as emergency personnel are on the scene following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. I have declared a State of Emergency here in Maryland and we are working with an interagency team to quickly deploy federal resources from the Biden Administration. We are thankful for the brave men and women who are carrying out efforts to rescue those involved and pray for everyone’s safety. We will remain in close contact with federal, state, and local entities that are carrying out rescue efforts as we continue to assess and respond to this tragedy.
