At Nacro, we believe that rehabilitation must be at the heart of an effective justice system. And that for people who enter the criminal justice system it should be the start of building something better, not a road to nowhere. For people coming out of prison, having a job is vital to start rebuilding their lives. However, 70% of people remain unemployed six months after they leave prison. To ensure more people who leave prison are able to find work, prisons need to give people the support, training and experience to set them up to get a job when they get out. There are some good training and employment schemes in prison, but it remains the case that only about half of people in prison are in employment or training. And often the work that people do in prison does not prepare them for work in the outside world. This is a wasted opportunity for rehabilitation. #WastingTime

On Community Policing. Now we will be able to understand the differences between the Traditional policing, Community Policing and Community Oriented Policing. The people recruited through community oriented policing decisions by various governments in the north are now complaining about the encroachment into their areas of functions by the community policing groups (vigilante groups). If we're also to check the level of Cooperation between the conventional police and Community Oriented Policing groups (such Katsina state KCW And elsewhere) we would see duplication of duties,lack of collaboration and information sharing between the trio. This undermine the effectiveness of their work towards successful policing of their respective communities. This is just a glimpse, we've these types of duplication of functions, lack of collaboration, lack of adequate information sharing between the many armed forces and paramilitaries. I never really place a lot of faith in surveys, when there is a better metric out there. The better metric, in regards to public trust in their police service, is, call volume. People are still calling upon the police like never before, to help them with all sorts of problems and concerns. Call volume- be it via 911, the non-emergency line, station walk-ins, online reporting, spontaneous citizen flag-downs and walk-ups to members- is growing exponentially. And although we can't solve everyone's problem, the fact that they ask us to, is a strong indicator of the faith and trust that the public still have in our members, in the constituent services that make up the profession, and the profession itself- not just in Edmonton, or in Canada, but across the civilized world. When victims and their families need help navigating the judicial system and forensic services, our victim specialists work to provide support and guidance at a challenging time. For Phoenix Field Office Victim Specialist Blanda P., this role is her opportunity to draw on two of her life experiences: as a member of the Navajo Nation, and as someone who fell victim to one of these serious crimes. At the time, there were no victim services to help her — no one to help her prepare for court or to help her navigate the legal paperwork. This experience is what led her to become a social worker and then an FBI victim specialist. Now, Blanda works to help those individuals who need it by building trust within the community.
