This year, I focused a lot on insights in terms of AI, and as it becomes an essential part of business strategy, many leaders face a critical question: How much should we rely on it for decision-making? AI offers unparalleled insights and data processing power that can drive better outcomes, streamline operations, and reveal patterns we might miss. Yet, there’s a delicate balance to strike. As leaders, are we using AI to enhance our intuition and judgment — or are we becoming overly dependent on it? Here are a few key considerations I have been thinking about. ~ AI is a Tool, Not a Replacement. At its best, AI can equip us with data-backed perspectives, allowing us to make more informed decisions. However, solely relying on algorithms risks overlooking the nuances and context that human experience brings to complex scenarios. ~ The Value of Human Intuition. Leadership often demands decisions based on values, empathy, and ethical considerations — areas where human insight remains irreplaceable. Authentic leadership isn’t just about optimizing outcomes; it’s about understanding people and the broader impact of decisions. ~ The Accountability Factor. AI Is Coming for Your Job—Leadership Will Save It AI is changing the game, and fast. It’s not just a tech shift—it’s a leadership challenge. Companies are racing to automate and streamline everything, and sure, it can make things faster and more efficient. I’ve seen how AI can really boost productivity and take the load off teams by automating the routine stuff. You can focus on bigger, more meaningful work while AI handles the grunt work. But here’s the catch. I've also seen where things go sideways. Some leaders start leaning too hard on AI and forget about the people. They rely on automation to the point where they’re disconnected from their teams. AI can’t replace empathy, strategic thinking, or adaptability. When employees feel like they’re just a cog in a machine, they disengage. You end up with people who don’t feel valued, and that’s where leadership needs to step up. The reality is, AI can’t inspire or motivate people—it can’t bring that human touch that’s so critical in leadership.
