How Marcus Bliesze reinvented #Jobshadowing – And its lasting benefits for my career to this day.😮 𝐒𝐏𝐒 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏: 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 For our first collaboration, I shadowed Marcus during several meetings in his role as the SPS booth manager. Simultaneously, it was lots of fun and learning to take over his social media publications during the virtual trade show week. 💡 ACTIVE job shadowing instead of just being a quiet shadow 𝐒𝐏𝐒 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐: 𝐈𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 Back onsite in Nürnberg at SPS 2022, Marcus took me along to all his appointments – be it with clients, partners, or former and current top managers of Siemens. Without exception, he introduced me to VIP personalities as both his right-hand in social media and as a shadowee. 💡 I learned a ton of helpful tips/ recommendations/ information from such encounters. 𝐒𝐏𝐒 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑: 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 It was Marcus's and Silke Graf's brainchild to have Annina Schön accompany me as a shadowee last year. I was immediatly wow-ed by this idea, so 𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲-𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻. Following the blueprint of our earlier years, we collaborated closely, based on feedback culture, learning from one another, and yielding results surpassing what we would have achieved individually. 💡 Job shadowing doesn’t have to be 1:1. It can be 1:1:1 or 1:2 as well. Throughout the years, the seeds sown made a great impact on my #career: 🌱 I was invited to work for Siemens at other fairs like HMI 🤝 Thanks to Marcus, I got to know my mentor Sibel Loew at SPS 2022 🎤 I crossed paths with the talented and inspiring Christine Brunner and we become co-moderators at EMO and SPS in 2023. 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐬, You continue to be a colleague who has opened countless doors for me, sharing your knowledge generously and allowing me to witness your own career and experiences firsthand. You embody the perfect balance between supporting & challenging, empowering & guiding, giving & asking for feedback.
