Four popular restaurants under shared ownership, Boludo Holding Co., were recently fined a total of $105,874, which fines included back wages for employees, damages, and penalties. As new state-level standards come into effect with the new year, employers should maintain a robust and proactive understanding of overarching federal labor laws. This week, we address some potential problem areas for employers. 📢 APSCo Calls for Greater Collaboration to Make the Fair Work Agency Fit for Purpose In our response to the Labour Market Enforcement Strategy 2025-2026, APSCo has called for greater collaboration between the Government, enforcement bodies (HMRC NMW, GLAA, EAS) and staffing firms as the Fair Work Agency (FWA) develops. Our key priorities for the FWA include: 🔸Implementing robust monitoring and data-sharing protocols 🔹Protecting vulnerable workers without limiting the highly skilled flexible labour market 🔸Streamlining audits and ensuring transparent performance measures 🔹Reviewing outdated regulations to create a level playing field While we do welcome the announcement of a Fair Work Agreement, Tania Bowers, APSCo’s Global Public Policy Director, commented: “What we have to see, though, is more collaboration between enforcement bodies and Government departments who have worked in silo for far too long. It is crucial that this is addressed to streamline processes, prevent unnecessary or irrelevant regulation and to ensure there is the much-needed consistency in recruitment.” 🔗 Read our press release in full: https://lnkd.in/e5nx8AjZ #LabourMarket #FairWork #FWA #EmploymentRightsBill #Recruitment #APSCo

The value of hearing authentic employee feedback in an open environment cannot be overstated. "What can we do to make things better?"......... It was great to attend the Carlisle Northern Trains Employee Council this morning in Manchester. With 8 front-line attendees from across the 300+ strong contract workforce, Carlisle management representation, and our recognised union the GMB, it was good to hear honest and insightful feedback about where we are with the contract overall. Whilst we enjoy a staff attrition rate of just 6% on this contract, it was also pleasing to hear of the areas we can focus on to become even better. The team has played its part over the recent years of reducing Ticketless Travel from 11% to 3%, and it was clear to see their passion and drive shine through today. Also nice for a number of our client representatives to join us and discuss the headline feedback, with a commitment to review all points raised in the coming weeks. This is what true collaboration looks like and I thank everyone for their attendance and commitment to such. ..........and even better it didn't rain and I got home dry. A bonus after forgetting to bring a coat to Manchester!!

Would the banning of ongoing Zero-hour contracts in the UK make it even harder for small-medium businesses and sole traders who just need some occasional help but are happy to pay for it? I can think of hundreds of occasions when I’ve needed ‘casual’ staff for an event. I’ve seen millions of hours of wages paid to people on the mutually accepted understanding that the event only exists for 5 weeks, or the concert only runs for one night. Those events could not exist, in fact concerts and theatre and live entertainment and restaurants and convention centres and the economic benefit they all bring would be lost, if they could not access ‘casual’ or ‘zero-hour contract’ staff. Entrepreneurs NEED flexibility as they create bigger things. Employment doesn't exist without employers. How would YOUR business or industry cope without the ability to employ people on a ‘casual’ basis? How would it affect your local economy? Your local restaurants, pubs, venues, events?

Did you know that TimeForge integrates into CBS NorthStar and all of the POS platforms that they support (including Micros, Aloha, NorthStar and many others)? Vocal on Local, by Janet Wilks One particular aspect of PJ Staffing that we are very proud of, that is important to us and we like to shout about is that we are local, as are the people we employ! This means we are supporting our city by boosting employment in our region and playing our part in building a stronger community and a stronger local economy. As a consequence of job creation in our area, our employees have more disposable income to spend and are more likely to spend their earnings in their community. The benefit is that as our employees are spending their money locally, it gives other local businesses an opportunity to build a loyal customer base by providing exceptional customer service, word of mouth, giving the customer what they want and continually improving the customer experience. Why would they then go out of the area when they can get everything on their doorstep? An example of this are our employees that are Uni students that have moved to Leeds. As they are working, they have money to spend, particularly on hospitality and retail. (They tell us they have their favourite shops and their favourite bars in Leeds that they will go back to time and time again!) Most importantly though, it means that our employees, particularly if they are new to the area or been out of work for a while feel part of the local community, as they become part of the PJ Staffing family. We are not just voices on the end of a telephone. Our staff meet us and each other in person because we are close to hand and within easy reach. They are able to build relationships within that family, which promotes a sense of connection, acceptance and well-being. A sense of belonging. Being local means that we are able to support other local businesses, our employees and show our commitment to our community and our city with a positive and constructive attitude, which we are very proud to do! #SupportLocal #CommunityEconomy #Staffing #Yorkshire #Leeds #Catering #Hospitality

Did You Know? Labor Day is often seen as a time to honor the hard work and dedication of employees across the nation. But why limit appreciation to just one day? At Outsourcing Direct, we believe that every day is an opportunity to celebrate the commitment and contributions of workers. Trivia: The first Labor Day was celebrated in 1882 in New York City, organized by the Central Labor Union. It was a day to recognize the achievements of workers, and it laid the foundation for the holiday we know today. Whether it's Labor Day or any other day, let's make a habit of appreciating the incredible work that fuels businesses and drives success. 👍 Like if you Agree #laborday #employees #workers #outsourcing #outsource #business
