Svitzer have developed a standardized set of dock jobs in SERTICA, enabling them to efficiently plan and execute docking across diverse geographic locations, including Australia, Americas, Europe and AMEA. "The ability to pre-select dock jobs for every docking occurrence not only streamlines our operations but also significantly reduces our capital expenditures and operational expenses," Roger Valencia explains. The goal was clear from the start: to standardize the dry-docking process across the fleet to better negotiate with OEMs. "By having standard specifications for dock jobs, we have gained a stronger bargaining position, securing better prices for items used in overhauls," Roger highlights. The strategy also focuses on minimizing vessel downtime by aligning major overhauls with docking schedules. "Strategically performing main engine and thruster overhauls during docking periods has proven essential in significantly reducing our vessels' downtime," Roger reflects. #sertica #MaintenanceManagement #DryDocking

🔧🚛 Resolving a Brake Issue on our 10 Ton Kalmar: A Success Story! 🎉 I'm thrilled to share a recent triumph from our workshop here in Calabar at ECMT! 🛠️ We recently tackled and triumphed over a brake issue that had our 10 Ton Kalmar momentarily sidelined. But thanks to the dedication and expertise of my incredible team, we swiftly identified and resolved the issue, getting our equipment back in action in no time! 💪 Here's a quick rundown of how we cracked the code: 1️⃣ Diagnosis Phase: We started by diving deep into the schematics of the hydraulic and electronic lines powering the brake system. By carefully studying the workshop manual and decoding the error code flashing on the display screen, we pinpointed the possible root cause of the problem. 2️⃣ Pressure Check: Next up, we checked the charging brake pressure as per the OEM recommendations. While we were not hitting the target pressure of 16 MPA we noticed a rapid drop, indicating an issue with the accumulator. 3️⃣ Accumulator Inspection: With our suspicions confirmed, we disconnected the accumulator after relieving the pressure on the equipment. Using a simple but effective test (thanks to a binding wire), we confirmed that the accumulator was indeed failing to hold pressure. 4️⃣ Parts Procurement: Armed with the OEM manual and the identified part number, we swiftly ordered a replacement accumulator filled with nitrogen to ensure optimal performance. 5️⃣ Installation and Resolution: Once the new accumulator arrived, it was a seamless installation process. With the brake issue firmly in our rearview mirror, our Kalmar was back in action, ready to tackle any challenge that comes its way!
