👹 The Netherlands Armed Forces Integrated Network (Nafin), a fiber-optic network of the military, caused a major network outage in the Netherlands. Emergency services, ministries, and air traffic around Eindhoven were affected until the afternoon. Recovery began around 4:00 p.m., but it may take hours to fully resolve. A very thought provoking article. Several valid points made but I don’t agree with all of them. While cyber is a critical enabler for the DoD, we cannot ignore the other information forces that constitute Operations in the Information Environment (OIE). This morning at #CANSEC2024, MDA Space, Telesat and Department of National Defence/Ministère de la défense nationale co-announced a brand new Commercial Integration Cell (CIC) focused on space operations. The CIC will formalize the process of sharing information between the CAF and industry, at the right security clearance level, to better protect Canada’s interests in space. It will focus on space systems currently supporting CAF operations and potential threats against those systems. This is the type of model we could and should be leveraging across different domains and areas of expertise, for everyone's benefit. #StongerTogether #DefenceIndustry

I believe the topic of discussion is serious and extremely important. However, there are some questions that need to be addressed regarding the statements made by the Air Force representative: 1. How is it feasible to have 5G technology on the battlefield? 2. How can commercial companies establish infrastructure on the battlefield? In recent US history, the battlefield has been in locations such as Afghanistan, Iran, North Africa, and others, where this type of infrastructure either does not exist or is very limited. Once you have established the infrastructure, you can implement security strategies and methodologies to safeguard communications.
