<rant> Here we go again... A translation company I've been working as LQA lead for for 7 is now demanding me to complete a test for a new LQA project to "verify my LQA skills" - WHY????? What is this obsession with repeatedly requesting translators to undergo unpaid tests? Would you ask your mechanic to complete a free test before you let them service your new car? No. You would ask your mechanic if they can service this model and if they say they can, you'd take their word for it - likewise if they say they can't. It would be unprofessional and foolish to take on a job you know you're not qualified for. So why do many companies have little trust in their translators? Sure, if someone is new on your books, by all means make them undergo some sort of evaluation. But someone you've collaborated with for many years? It feels utterly belittling to constantly have your qualifications questioned and it stings more and more the longer I'm in the business (25 years this year). </rant> Colleagues: How do you deal with this? And businesses: I'd like to understand your reasoning! #rant #translation #localisation #workethics #trust #qualifications

𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮, 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝟰 at GoIT România's QA Manual course! 🚀 This lesson was a 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯 where i learned how to use 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹. I've learned how to create 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲, 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀, 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀, 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀. Upon learning about 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹, I discovered that it allows members team to develop test cases, organize test suites, to run tests and track their results using a web interface modern and easy to use. 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹 is one of the most popular tools frequently used in projects for writing and managing documentation of testing. #TestRail #TestCase #TechnicalSkills

Knowing technical jargon/terminology is not a "nice to have" in any field. Not being able to speak the common language results in misunderstanding, and eventually broken products and dissatisfied clients. Testing is not an exception. Which terms have you encountered that are commonly misused? Whether it's by testers, developers, project managers, or anyone else, share your experiences in the comments below! I've gathered a few examples in my blog post. Check it out for insights into the importance of terminology in testing. #Terminology #Testing #QA #SoftwareDevelopment #Communication

Hello VET friends back with another question as I can't find a clear direct answer from ASQA's website. My understanding is that a student needs to agree an assessment outcome (in writing) before we judge them competent in the unit, can I confirm this is accurate and if so which policy (or shoot me a link to the resource) reinforces this. As an example, the student completes all their required learning and nominal hours, they also earned Satisfactory Assessments across both Knowledge Evidence, Performance Evidence criteria but before we issue the unit (and tie to USI) we need to have them agree to our findings, effectively giving them an opportunity to challenge or complain anything about the unit. Any help, feedback or support is greatly appreciated.
