Customers are expecting emails during Memorial Day weekend.
However…
Don’t let your brand forget what Memorial Day is all about.
Here is what we are doing:
1) Emails start going out today and carry through Memorial Day.
2) Offers will be decent, but we are NOT a discount brand. This is not one of our “sale pillars” and will not be treated like so.
3) Every email will be thanking our veterans, those who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice, as well as all dogs who served!
4) 10% of all proceeds during the weekend will go to The Warrior Dog Foundation.
#3 coupled with #4 > #2
Sales are great. Boosting revenue is awesome. Watching orders flow in is phenomenal.
But being a good human being wins every time.
Don’t forget that.
Don’t forget what Memorial Day is all about.

Honor a Veteran for Memorial Day
On this Memorial Day, I am honoring my Uncle Romie who was a cook in the army. He was a Forest Ranger and dressed up as Smokey the Bear to do education programs for the local community. He would climb the fire tower and look for forest fires in the national forests. His fire tower was like the one in the photo.
Uncle Romie looked for something to laugh about because he reported me to my Mom for hitting boys with my red purse on the playground in elementary school which was across the road from his fire tower. I know he saw this as a random act of kindness for the boys on the playground and for me, too. I did stop the behavior after my Mom explained this would limit my supply of purses.
The biggest win you can have for your organization or business is to focus on what value your strategy creates for your customers, employees, and community. Like Uncle Romie, finding the good in things and the value you bring to others is one of the keys to developing your strategy. The value is in the eyes of the beholder.
What can you start doing to communicate your value to the person you are presenting to or serving?
What can you stop doing that does not add value to the person you are presenting to or serving?
What new strategy can you create to honor a veteran in your community?
What is a random act of kindness you can do today to honor a veteran in your life?

Rest in peace, Sergeant. The war followed you home and we will continue to work in your memory and the memory of all who served, suffered, and struggled with to the ‘friendly fire’ of toxic exposure. As a proudly trained US Army physician, I’ve watched the waves of warfighters from Gulf War days to the present return to a system that wasn’t built to diagnose and treat these hidden complex illnesses. It starts with doubt and denial. It lags as the initial good faith calls for evidence turn into endless research cycles always needing ‘further study’, always ‘further study’, even when the suggested paths have little or no risk and no other answers are forthcoming. The demand for ‘complete evidence’ ignores the passage of time as our men and women in uniform (and innumerable contractors and other citizens, including foreign nationals that stood shoulder to shoulder with us) age, suffer, and die. It also ignores that unquantifiable suffering that comes from feeling unheard and unbelieved, especially in a population trained to stay in line, respect order, and not complain. I know this is a long message and if you’ve made it this far, please consider supporting BurnPits 360, other Veteran Service Organizations, contacting your Congressional representatives (THEY HEAR IT!) or, at the very least, in between your summer celebrations today, take a moment to make space in your heart for those who aren’t with us.

Honoring you today my brother; RIP SSG Will Thompson. 🙏🏼🇺🇸
Memorial Day is a time to honor the fallen service members of the U.S. military. As we approach this important day, here are four key points to remember:
1. National Moment of Remembrance: At 3 p.m. local time, observe a minute of silence to pay respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
2. Purpose: Memorial Day specifically honors those who died in military service. Let's take a moment to remember and honor their bravery and sacrifice.
3. Flag Etiquette: Fly the flag at half-staff until noon, then raise it to full-staff. This is a simple yet important way to show our respect and gratitude.
4. History: Originally known as "Decoration Day," Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May. Let's take a moment to reflect on the history and meaning of this important day.
Let us all take a moment to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives for our freedom. #MemorialDay#NeverForget
