This time next week! 🌱 🌎 Climate change is the great challenge of our generation. And we passionately believe the hospitality industry can lead the way on reframing the way we buy and consume food as a nation - and build stronger, more successful, long-term businesses as a result. It’s why Peach 20/20 and Fleet Street. have joined forces to produce #PlanetPeach. And the response from across the industry has been fantastic. We have more than 200 confirmed guests, meaning the debate on the conference floor will be as compelling as the one on the stage. We look forward to welcoming you next Tuesday. If you've not yet got your ticket, the last few places are available to book here - https://lnkd.in/gj-wA3t4 We’ll be addressing: 🌱 The sustainability challenge - where to start? We’ll dig into the latest data, insight, legislation and sector sentiment. 🌱 What data are investors looking for and what is the impact of sustainability on valuation and investment choices. 🌱 Henry Dimbleby, Co-founder of Leon Restaurants and author of the Sunday Times bestseller – Ravenous will share his thoughts on fixing our food system. 🌱 How the board agenda has changed - from energy consumption to regenerative farming, menu reformulation and resilience in the supply chain. 🌱 Why supply chain collaboration is crucial. 🌱 How companies should communicate their sustainability credentials with stakeholders. 🌱 How ambitious organisations develop executive leaders and engage the right NEDs to create the environment to challenge the status quo and implement change. 🌱 Leaders face many challenges in moving to a more sustainable future. How are innovating operators going about it - and what’s next? A huge thanks to our partners: Headline partner Nutritics. Event partners Brakes UK, CGA by NIQ, Nestlé Professional, Prestige Purchasing, Searcys and Zonal. And supporting partners UKHospitality and Zero Carbon Forum. #event #hospitality #food #sustainability #peerlearning

📢Announcing our final two panel members📢 Understanding the concept of impact can be quite complex, as it is often perceived differently in #academic and #business contexts. This lack of connection frequently results in misunderstandings and missed #opportunities. Defining something often requires first figuring out what it is not. That is why we have chosen to investigate what does not constitute #impact. So, let's take a different perspective on this: What is not impact, how not to achieve impact. Join us for an engaging and interactive discussion at the “How not to achieve impact” event, organised by StartHub Wageningen. The final two panel members we will be joined by are: - Marieke Kil: Global Sustainability Manager R&D Nutrition at Unilever - Sebastiaan Berendse: Corporate Director Value Creation at WUR Keep an eye out for the announcement of our moderators next week. Whether you're already working with impact or simply passionate about learning more, this event is for you. Our expert panel, consisting of professionals from various backgrounds and positions, will share their experiences and insights. Don't miss this opportunity to connect and define impact together. Yesterday Footprint's 2024 event season got underway with the launch of the new Footprint Intelligence report "Can a cup save the planet?" in association with MEIKO UK We were delighted to have a full house with key industry leaders wanting to explore opportunities for reusables in hospitality and foodservice. Download the report here https://lnkd.in/eJ3sUACK The research looks at the role of collaboration, how to scale, and whether we should embrace packaging standardisation. Does it damage brand identity if you don’t have your own packaging? How can we change behaviour to make reuse the new norm? We also examine the benefits of working with competitors and introducing reuse in supply chains. And we look at the benefits: building reputational value, evolving new business models and saving the planet – one cup, container or crate at a time. An enormous thanks also to yesterday's panellists Daniel Stretton, Paul A., Dominic Watkins, John Reeves, Safia Qureshi, Justin Turquet and to Amy Fetzer's superb chairmanship and contagiously energetic presentation of the reports insights.

And thanks from me to all the industry insiders who shared their insights as part of the research process, and for the amazing panel guests, and to the audience for their attention, and to MEIKO Group for supporting the project! Reusables are a vital part of reducing single-use waste and it was great to get into the nitty gritty of issues covered in the report such as: * customer perception - e.g. our research found nearly half of UK adults want HaFS to take responsibility for providing reusable containers * cost - schemes can be low cost and even cost neutral * climate implications - reusables can reach climate breakeven with single use disposables after as little as 5 uses * potential barriers (such as concerns over compromising convenience, product branding, energy efficient washing and so much more) can be overcome! Download the report here: https://lnkd.in/erTPqKFq Thanks again to Abbey Short Anshu Ahuja Ashleigh Taylor Ashley Robb Cherry Dejos Cymbeline Leadbitter Daniel Stretton Emily Pinkney Hugo Lynch Jack Feeny John Reeves Josephine Liang Juliane Caillouette Noble Justin Turquet Mark Roberts CFSP Martin Kersh Mike Hanson Nolan Wright Paul A. Philip Rowden Rosie Rayner-Law Ryan Holmes Safia Qureshi Sam Lawes Sarah Greenwood Stuart Chidley and to Vypr for providing access to it's consumer research panels.

For the last two days I've had the pleasure of attending the Food & Bio Global Summit '23 in (one of my) hometown(s), Aarhus. While Nordic Sustainability is working in a multitude of sectors (pharma, textiles, logistics, just to name a few), we have relatively little experience in this sector. Thus, I really wanted to attend this event to better understand how the actors in the food- and agrisector approaches the sustainability challenges of our time. Key reflections from the two days include: - In my opinion, the two most engaging and impactful presentations were delivered by Emiliano Duch (formerly of the World Bank) who spoke of the necessity of rethinking which agricultural goods we choose to subsidize, and Dr. David Hughes aka. Doctor Food, who shared his extensive insights on consumer preferences around the world. What can we learn from these two speakers? While both were among the oldest key-note speakers present, I think it has more to do with not only their extensive experience, but also that they have no bosses or shareholders to appease, allowing them to freely speak their mind. I would greatly encourage anyone with an interest in food, agriculture and sustainability to check them out! - Humans are habitual creatures and all habits are slow to change. This is true not only for our dietary habits, but also for the way in which we produce, process and package our food. Needless to say, a paradigm shift is needed if we are to feed a growing population while staying within the planetary boundaries. - Collaboration is paramount, whether it’s through clusters of SMEs, large companies opening up for knowledge sharing (and their potentially valuable side-streams!), or from getting together with other like-minded actors face-to-face to meet the sustainability challenges of our times. A big thanks to the organisers and all the lovely people I've met. Until next time!
