Our Demo Day and the F&A Next event were a big success.   🛥️ Yesterday, after a dynamic F&A Next day, we celebrated our successes with a charming boat tour through the canals of Amsterdam. It was the perfect ending to a week packed with engaging talks, insightful presentations from startups, scale-ups, investors, and corporates, all dedicated to revolutionizing the food and agri-sectors. 🗨️ Throughout the week, we delved into pressing issues within the food and agriculture industry, exploring innovative solutions. Highlights included high cuisine tastings made from commonly wasted foods and a critical session on water security, underscoring the importance of sustainable water management in the years to come. 🤝 Networking was, as always, a cornerstone of the event. We connected with numerous passionate startups and impactful investors and corporates, each bringing their vision for a sustainable future in food and agriculture. ⭐ Let's continue to accelerate the solutions we need in the food and agri-space. That's how the story of Jutt Palastar began at LUMS, crafted from the ground up by myself and my dearest friend and colleague, Moeez Tauqeer. Our mission? When every food option on campus closes, we will bring the best Anda Shami to your doorstep. Starting with just three signature burgers, each infused with our magical ingredients, we set out to make a mark. What we didn’t know was that our small project would catch fire so quickly. We had a shaky start, but guess what? In under three weeks, we achieved what seemed impossible—selling over 45 burgers in less than an hour. The momentum didn't stop there; by the end of our first month, we had generated record sales amounting to PKR 250,000+. 🎉 This journey has been more than just selling burgers; it's been about creating experiences, fostering community, and learning the ropes of a food startup. Each burger sold has been a testament to the power of partnership and innovation. To everyone who has supported us from day ONE, we thank you. Spacegoods, led by e-commerce entrepreneur Matthew Kelly, joins the mushroom craze with functional powder blends enhancing #energy, #relaxation, and #mood. Kelly shares, "A lot of people have similar issues with too much coffee and anxiety, so I wanted to stack a lot of those ingredients." Known for its bustling atmosphere and vibrant vendor stalls, Salamanca Market has hosted a Seedlab initiative throughout most of 2023. It's allowed emerging businesses to experience firsthand customer interactions, gaining invaluable insights and refining strategies. Real-world market exposure is pivotal for new ventures, and Salamanca Market is the perfect training ground. Seedlab's partnership with Salamanca Market has been a big step forward for some of the emerging businesses that have operated the stall. Participants have had the golden opportunity to interact directly with genuine customers in a bustling market environment. Several businesses have experienced the enlightening moments of clarity when customer feedback or unique market scenarios highlighted key focus areas, driving them closer to achieving their business goals. As one participant summed it up, the "Seedlab Salamanca experience has been an amazing platform to assist in exposing our business, products, and our story to thousands of market visitors in just one day." 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟒: 𝐉𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐨'𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐞 Established in 2013, Juicero gained fame for its high-end $699 wifi-connected juicer, a brainchild of its original founder 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐠 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐬, who likened himself to Steve Jobs in his pursuit of juicing excellence. The juicer, often dubbed the "Keurig for juice" by tech blogs, operated with exclusive juice packs. Despite CEO Jeffrey Dunn's assertion that Juicero was more than just a juicer, the public wasn't convinced. A Bloomberg video revealing that the juice packs could be hand-squeezed just as efficiently, if not faster, led to a decline in consumer interest. Investors were also put off by the perceived bulkiness of the machine, prompting the company to slash the machine's price to $399 in response to negative press. Despite efforts to make the device more affordable by reducing the machine and juice pack prices, Juicero closed its doors a mere 16 months after its initial launch. In their final blog post, the team cited the need for an "𝘢𝘤𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘩 𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘯" to continue their mission of establishing a luxury juice brand.
