While no restaurant has it all figured out, at Shake Shack, we are continuously taking steps in the right direction, as showcased in each page of our 2023 Stand For Something Good Summary. What am I most proud of? Here are some of my favorite highlights: 🍔 Purchasing Neutral Foods’ certified carbon-neutral whole milk at over 90 locations has allowed Shake Shack to avoid more than 375 MT CO2e, equivalent to the emissions from burning 413K pounds of coal. 🍔 Working with Mill, a food-waste recycling system, at our West Village location, Shake Shack has diverted 550 lbs of food scraps from landfills and provided sustainable U.S. farms with animal feed from our recycled scraps since December 2023. 🍔 By using Zero Acre Farms oil for frying select menu items from September to December 2023, Shake Shack avoided approximately 33 MT of CO2e, reduced land use for crop cultivation by 27 acres, and conserved around 55K gallons of water. TLDR: Check out Shake Shack’s 2023 Stand for Something Good Summary!

Happy Monday! As we embark on a new week, let's remember that our work is not just about creating spaces—it's about transforming them. Every conversation we initiate, every policy we influence, and every perspective we shift, plants the seeds for a more equitable and just future. This week, let's challenge ourselves to take one bold step towards creating inclusive and equitable workplaces no matter how small it may seem. Because in the canvas of change, every thread counts. Make it count! 💪 #MondayMotivation #DEIJProgress #InclusionInAction

🎇 Neuro Diversity Celebration Week 🎇 Embracing different ways of thinking is key to make the workplace a welcoming and inclusive place to be. We believe that this starts from a place of learning and understanding, which is why our Human Resources Business Partner Gemma Cook is the perfect candidate to tell us why creating an inclusive environment is so important. Gemma recently joined a 3-day course in Strategic Approaches to EDI (Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) and praised the eye-opening discussions with others on the course. "Conversations and ideas were shared around recruitment and retention where small changes can have a huge impact. Being more aware and understanding of each other could help you find great talent that may have been dismissed before! It’s so important to keep an open mind, especially when thinking of attracting and retaining talent that may identify as Neuro Divergent. Helping create this awareness and understanding at Knorr-Bremse Rail UK is so important and another step closer to a more accepting future." We could not agree more Gemma. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to making Knorr-Bremse Rail UK an even better place to work! #meettheteam #employeespotlight #employeestories #neurodiversity #neurodiversitycelebrationweek #womeninrail #ontracktosuccess #teamknorrbremse

Resilence: Profound Transformational Culture Change, Fresh Eyes One Idea... Culture Creators are Difference Makers!!! However, many people don’t see themselves as either: “Culture Creators” or “Difference Makers.” I well remember becoming Department Head Volunteers for Wesley Mission, Sydney, Australia's largest Church and Christian Welfare Organisation, at a time of Phenomenal Growth with 110 Community & Aged Care Services and Ministries... When organising the next, and my first Volunteer Orientation, I sensed reluctance from some Senior Staff…They loved having volunteers, but it seemed the Culture and tradition of having to attend a separate Staff Orientation and a Volunteer Orientation; was just an extra thing to do! So, as I pondered the vibes, and looked at both Orientation Programs, it struck me how similar except for a couple of sessions they were… So I put together an idea, fired it off to Rev Dr Gordon Moyes the CEO and Superintendent, the General Manager Corporate Services, and HR Manager; and all universally agreed, “what a great idea it was and why hadn't they thought of that!" Having a Joint Staff and Volunteer Orientation Program with a couple of extra sessions at the end; that were paid staff specific issues! My idea was Transformational! A new person, looking with different fresh eyes… The impact that idea had was both immediate and ongoing to this day; in Changing Culture and Building Resilience! The attitude and enthusiasm of those Senior Staff and others, 1,250 Fulltime, Part-time, Casual Staff, and the Huge Volunteer Workforce of thousands changed... Seeing both Staff and Volunteers together at Orientations, Profoundly Impacted the Culture! For the staff could see, how highly we valued our volunteers, and the volunteers by being invited and in attendance at Joint Staff/Volunteer Orientation Programs, knew the high regard Wesley Mission, Senior Staff and others, held all volunteers, including the record number that were recruited, interviewed and deployed by me; during my tenure and the entire history of Wesley Mission... If you don't get the Culture of your Company, NGO, Church, Government Departments at a National, State or Local Level or Organisation right from the top down, you may have limited, even occasional success; but Culture Profoundly Matters! For Culture Creators are Difference Makers! @Colin Murdoch, Sydney, NSW, Australia...

Celebrating Inclusivity 🥳 🎉 Inclusivity and diversity are not just buzzwords for me; they are principles that guide my actions every day 🌟 Today, we had such a fun team-building exercise in the office where everyone brought a dish to share during lunch 🍽️. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our diverse backgrounds and tastes. I contributed Polenta Chips, making sure they were Vegetarian, Halal-friendly, and Gluten-Free 🥔🌿. This was my way of ensuring everyone, regardless of dietary restrictions or preferences, could partake in the meal. It's small actions like these that foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels recognised and valued 🤝. Being a team player means being mindful of the diverse needs of people around you 🌍. It’s about creating a space where everyone can contribute and feel appreciated. This commitment to #inclusivity and #diversity is something I strive to bring to every aspect of my life, both inside and outside the office. My mission was and will always be to continue to build workplaces where everyone, irrespective of their differences, feels the sense of belonging and their unique traits are celebrated 🎉. #Inclusivity #Diversity #TeamBuilding #TeamPlayer #WorkplaceCulture #FoodForAll #LeadershipInAction #ProjectManagement #ProjectManager

Hello and welcome. We are Breath Beings! ❔ What we do here and Why do we do it? ❓ And why are we even called Breath Beings? For us, the breath symbolises awareness - the mindful consciousness that influences our every move. 'Being' embodies the distinct essence and character that each person contributes to the fabric of existence. Each breath taken at Breath Beings signifies a conscious move towards embracing inclusivity. Can inclusion become as natural as breathing? We believe it can. Here's what we do: ✨ We collaborate with organisations to shape workplaces where equity and inclusivity are as fundamental and instinctive as the air we breathe. ✨ We help create a safe environment for open dialogue - a sanctuary where discussions about differences, biases, and privileges are welcomed and fostered. ✨ Through art, reflection, and expression, we make these conversations more accessible and impactful. ✨ Our approach is incremental - one breath, one person, one ally, one policy at a time. This rhythm sets the pace for improving employee experience, engagement, and performance. Every breath you take can contribute to a more inclusive world. 🤝 Let's work together to create spaces where everyone feels valued - one breath at a time. #inclusion #equityandinclusion #diversity #culturematters #changemakers

There's a lot of talk about "culture fit". It often focuses on whether you buy-in to some high-level statement of values. Andre Martin shows us that it is SO much deeper. In his new book that comes out on 9/12, Andre shares his POV based on very deep expertise, experience, and research on how we can help both our organizations and our people thrive by more deeply considering what we mean by "fit". You can pre-order it now: https://lnkd.in/gKQqYGjF Andre, thanks for sharing your knowledge with the world! #orgculture #culturefit #rightfitwrongfit
