Microvascular Health Solutions announces a new study using GlycoCheck which is the first to investigate the effects of ascorbic acid on microcirculation during sepsis in humans using in vivo video microscopy. The study concluded that high-dose parenteral ascorbic acid tends to increase the proportion of perfused microvessels in the early period of sepsis and septic shock. Future studies with high-dose intravenous ascorbic acid would allow elucidating whether the cause of infection may influence changes in microcirculation and address the optimal timing and duration of administration. https://lnkd.in/gqCergVZ

LBP-EC01 is being developed as a novel treatment for uncomplicated urinary tract infections caused by drug-resistant E. coli. The data from the trial were published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases. A very interesting article. The Key point for me is the recognition that the coagulopathy of sepsis remains an unmet need. The ClotPro #tpatest is crucial in addressing this issue. In the model of coagulation presented, coagulation is not just about forming a clot but involves a broader network of biological processes. The model underscores the co-evolution of the circulatory, immune, and inflammatory systems, necessary for responding to vascular injury. The pathogenesis of TED has been demonstrated to involve cross-talk between the Thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor (TSHR) and the Insulin Growth Factor I receptor (IGF-IR). #Teprotumumab is an IGF-IR antagonist that has been demonstrated to inhibit the activation of orbital fibroblasts (OF) through inhibition of this cross-talk. This paper presents a case report of bilateral global Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer (gRNFL) nerve thinning after teprotumumab initiation with subsequent bilateral gRNFL recovery in a patient with controlled #ocular_hypertension.
