Executive Coaching for Leadership, Life & Legacy | Helping senior leaders optimise their brilliance and lead with intent | We coach, mentor, consult & guide | Trusted partnerships from experienced professionals
I don't think any of us are surprised at the official figures hitting the threshold for recession today. As a trustee of a local food bank, we've seen demand increasing steadily for a while now, a clear indication of the struggles some families are facing. What I have been surprised at however is some of the attitudes towards food banks as I've got involved in trying to drive up food and financial donations. Conversations I've actually been involved in ... - How do you know they really need the food? - Do you know if they smoke/drink/subscribe to TV channels ...? - I'm sure they could buy their own food if they made different life choices. - What are they doing to get a job? - We never had handouts, we found a way to earn or went hungry. Believe me, people don't come to a food bank for an easy ride. They come because they have no other options. Sometimes it's just a one-off request. Sometimes it's for a longer period. But no-one stays longer than they need to. They want to be standing on their own two feet. We do everything possible to provide that hand up and a sense of hope. My encouragement. Lose any judgement you hold about food banks and those who use them. It is entirely misplaced. Find your local service. Understand what they do and need. Help them out if you are in a position to. _____ P.S. If you're in West Craven and want to help us, there's a link in the comments for you 🙏

Season of Giving: A New Approach to Holiday Traditions As the festive season approaches, a time traditionally marked by exchanging gift baskets and extending warm wishes, the Canadian Small Business Finance team at Accord Financial Corp. is reflecting on how to spread holiday cheer in a more meaningful way. Annually, we delight in sending gift baskets to our valued partners, referral sources, and clients. Yet, considering the current economic challenges, we recognize the importance of adapting our holiday traditions to better support our community. This year, rather than sending gift baskets, we are redirecting these funds to a cause that truly embodies the spirit of giving. We will donate an amount equivalent to our usual expenditure on gift baskets to local food banks, aiding those in our community who are facing tough times. We believe that, especially in these difficult periods, our contribution can make a substantial difference in the lives of those in need. We extend this initiative to our partners and suppliers as well. Rather than sending gift baskets to our office, we invite you to participate in this meaningful cause by directing your funds to local food banks. This collective effort can significantly enhance our impact on the community. As we enter this season, let's not only view it as a time for giving but as a chance to provide real support and solidarity. We are grateful for your understanding and backing in this venture and wish you a season filled with peace, joy, and the essence of community spirit. #seasonofgiving #communitysupport #holidayspirit #AccordFinancial #foodbank #foodbanks
