Sea turtles have been the focus of many conservation efforts globally. These marine reptiles have been the victim of poaching, climate change and pollution to name a few. However these creatures play an important role in our ecosystem and as such loosing such animals can be detrimental to the health of marine ecosystems. Follow me as I interview Andrés Mendez a Costa Rican Biologist and discover why sea turtles are so precious and ways in which we can help these conservation efforts. https://lnkd.in/eP6B_jGG #conservation #seaturtles #conservationefforts #conservationeducation #costarica #nature #environmentaleducation #environmentalprotection

OCEANS ALIVE CONSERVATION TRUST OUR OCEANS • OUR FUTURE Let's love, respect, appreciate and protect our oceans, nature, wildlife, and our amazing planet. WORLD FISH MIGRATION DAY 2024 World Fish Migration Day is celebrated annually on October 24 to raise awareness about the importance of fish migrations and the global challenges which these species face. It highlights the ecological, cultural, and economic significance of all migratory fish species, such as salmon and eels and many others. Observed on specific dates every few years, in May and October, the day promotes conservation efforts, sustainable fisheries, responsible human behaviour and the need for habitat protection. Activities often include community awareness events, educational workshops, and discussions about the severe impacts of migratory barriers, such as dams, reservoirs, and pollution on fish populations. Call for action: If we are wondering what can be done, read the message below. It is simple and straightforward advocacy via elected officials
Act Now: Support a Bill for Bird Conservation! 🐦 Help conserve rare and migratory birds around the world! 🌍 Birds and their habitats face many threats, including habitat loss. For migratory birds, conservation efforts must extend across borders, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation. That is why Congress is considering the International Conservation Act, a crucial step to help birds on their migratory journeys. This pivotal legislation will boost conservation funding for bird habitats worldwide, improving management of conserved areas, protecting biodiversity, and combating climate change. Rare and migratory bird species like the Golden-winged Warbler, Wood Thrush, Red-fronted Macaw, Andean Condor, and Rufous Hummingbird need support from this international conservation funding — and you can help. 🦜 Stand up for birds today and urge your members of Congress to support the International Conservation Act! Add your signature and become a part of the solution for birds, wildlife, and our climate. 🌟 👉https://lnkd.in/guTCT-Zd #InternationalConservationAct #BirdConservation #ConservationLegislation #GoldenWingedWarbler #WoodThrush #RedFrontedMacaw #AndeanCondor #RufousHummingbird #ActionAlert

🌿 Protecting Endangered Species in the Caribbean 🌿 The Caribbean is home to many unique and endangered species that play a vital role in our ecosystems, like the Hawksbill sea turtle, the Jamaican iguana, and the West Indian manatee. These species face threats from habitat loss, climate change, and human activities. But there is hope! Conservation efforts are underway across the region to protect these incredible animals. Projects like the Wider Caribbean Sea Turtle Conservation Network (WIDECAST) focus on protecting sea turtles through community engagement and sustainable practices. In Jamaica, the Hope Zoo and local conservation groups are working tirelessly to restore the Jamaican iguana population. Efforts to protect the West Indian manatee are also gaining ground, with organizations like the Caribbean Manatee Conservation Network focusing on education and habitat protection. By supporting these initiatives, we can all contribute to preserving the biodiversity of the Caribbean. Every action counts, from reducing plastic waste to supporting local conservation programs. Together, we can ensure that these species thrive for future generations. @widecastseaturtles @hopezookingston Learn more about how you can help and get involved today! 🌊🐢🦎 #CaribbeanConservation #SaveOurSpecies #Biodiversity #EndangeredSpecies #EPIC #EcoAwareness #ProtectOurPlanet #WildlifePreservation #SeaTurtleConservation #ManateeProtection

OCEANS ALIVE CONSERVATION TRUST OUR OCEANS • OUR FUTURE Let's love, respect, appreciate and protect our oceans, nature, wildlife, and our amazing planet. World Manta Day 2024 World Manta Day is celebrated annually on September 17th to raise awareness about manta rays, their conservation, and the threats they face. Manta rays are gentle giants of the ocean, known for their grace and intelligence. Unfortunately, they are increasingly threatened by habitat destruction, climate change, and illegal fishing practices, especially for their gill plates, which are used in traditional medicine. World Manta Day brings attention to these majestic creatures and encourages global efforts to protect them and their habitats. Through educational campaigns, conservation initiatives, and awareness events, the day aims to foster a greater appreciation for manta rays and the vital role they play in marine ecosystems. It also emphasizes the importance of sustainable marine practices to ensure their survival for future generations.
