Observed on specific dates every few years, in May and October, the day promotes conservation efforts, sustainable fisheries, responsible human behaviour and the need for habitat protection. Activities often include community awareness events, educational workshops, and discussions about the severe impacts of migratory barriers, such as dams, reservoirs, and pollution on fish populations.
