Responses from a few teens who attended a Healthy Relationship Seminar led by a PhD Counselor, on behalf of Megan's Foundation Community Outreach. What stood out to you most today? 1. It isn’t love if someone is jealous and tried to control you or your plans 2. Abuse starts before hitting. There are signs leading up to it. 3. The signs of both healthy and unhealthy relationships. 4. An unhealthy relationship can lead to an abusive relationship. Question: I used to think….. Now I think…. 1. Saying I love you very early on wasn’t that bad, because it’s been said to me before. NOW: Saying I love you early isn’t real love. It’s intensity. There’s a difference. 2. Used to think: I was bad. NOW: I am good. I was just being manipulated. 3. Used to think: A certain level of control was o.k. NOW: I should start talking to my boyfriend about ways for us to improve. 4. Used to think: Possessiveness was healthy. NOW: It is not. 5. Used to think: It’s important to protect your loved ones. NOW: It’s not my responsibility to let them have fun with me. 6. Used to think: I have no control over bad things. NOW: You can ask for help and do what is right. 7. Used to think: I couldn’t say anything if it was going to make the other person upset. NOW: Boundaries and respecting myself is just as important. Is is critical to reach teens as they begin their dating lives. Megan's Foundation is 100% focused on our mission: To prevent relationship violence BEFORE it starts. And we back that up with funding to make it happen. www.megansfoundation.org #healthyrelationshipeducation #IPVprevention #highschools #colleges #Datingviolenceprevention #domesticviolenceprevention #primaryprevention #highereducation #alabamacommunitycolleges #HBCUs #grantstoschools #grantstocolleges #grantstononprofits #institutionalleadership #innovativefunding #catalystforchange #studentsmentalhealth

As a part of educational history, community schools have always existed in some form. The Progressive Movement in education was shaped by community activism, local needs, and aspirations for social progress. Communities influenced the movement through demands for equitable education, responsive schooling practices, and the integration of social services into educational settings. By advocating for child-centered, experiential learning that addressed social inequalities and prepared students for active citizenship, communities and industry played a pivotal role in shaping the educational reforms that define the Progressive Era in American history. From Me To You Consulting is uniquely positioned to cultivate school-business partnerships to generate resources and opportunities for families and students to thrive. If your company or school desires to forge meaningful partnerships, register for a 1-on-1 training session before August 9. Register at: https://lnkd.in/efrMHmDP or frommetoyou5304@gmail.com. Skilled programmatic leader and innovator who creates events and professional development opportunities for educators and administrators
Today’s Pre-Election Clinic workshop session with Jason Craige Harris began with an invitation to consider that we are all in pursuit of community. Jason shared a powerful quote by Charles Vogel: "I define a community as a group of individuals who share a mutual concern for one another. Community is about care, belonging, and the relationships that sustain us through the challenges of life. It is not just about proximity or shared interests, but about the bonds that form when people are committed to supporting each other." This insight is a profound reminder that community transcends physical spaces or common interests—it’s about the deep connections and relationships that sustain us. As AISNE (Association of Independent Schools in New England) moves through the first week of our 2024-2025 event programming, we are excited to gather 360+ attendees from 95+ schools across New England. Together, we will take time to become more deeply connected, continue to strengthen the bonds that define our AISNE community, and support one another through shared experiences and mutual care. Here’s to building a community where everyone belongs and is supported. #Community #AISNE #Belonging #Support #SharedExperiences #Education

When I was thinking about Hairiette of Harlem, my thought was that I could create a brand for just for kids--adults were frustrating. I did a hard pivot on that idea while I was at school and realized there would be no way to reach a child without parent/caregiver engagement. In fact, family engagement may well be the heart of child learning (the 74million.com shared a great article called 'The Biggest Blind Spot in Education: Parents’ Role in Their Children’s Learning). It got me thinking: how can teachers and parents work together as PARTNERS in the education of a child? Here are three solutions to consider! 1. Teachers might consider doing home visits—if parents are reluctant, then maybe coffee at a location that works for both parties? 2. Text messaging is likely the quickest, easiest way for parents and teachers to stay connected. Maybe it’s as simple as a daily inspirational message! Also, parents tend to get frustrated when the only time they hear from their child’s school is when something goes wrong. Should something happen in school, at least there’s a prior relationship in place between the parent and the teacher. 3. Collaborate with students to get their input in any direction the school is consider taking. For example, why not have the students create a committee that helps the staff, school and administrators design an ideal parent/caregiver/teacher day? Are you a teacher? What are some of the things you/your school is doing to help foster a healthy relationship with parent/caregivers? https://lnkd.in/eUU6JhcM
