They ARE very influential!!! Michael Murray Frasers Group power is colossal and Retail Week have seen this and awarded them most influential leaders. My open questions to them as most influential leaders with loads of power to have open conversation around progression in retail remain open following Frasers Group Frasersfest (and the amount of DM's I'm still getting here and Positive Retail instagram) As a leadership team can you ask yourselves the following... 1. Is this 2024 leadership? Do we care? Why did partners send those leaders? Do we care? What are our policies here, what are partners policies? Do we care? 2. As a leadership team lets read Aja Barber’s Consumed: The need for collective change; colonialism, climate change & consumerism and discuss it internally. Then lets buy it for all employees and discuss it openly as an organisation. Then lets buy it for brand partners and discuss it. We are powerful and have the power to change things here. 3. On reflection are the optics here a bit Henry VIII/ Bullingdon club?

It is great to see leadership in the field. Dealing with front-line team members should remind leadership of 3 critical keys to success. #1- Your internal customers, especially customer-facing team members, are as important, if not more so than, your external customers. #2 - Empathy is free! Treat others as you want to be treated! When I was starting my career, my mentor told me that you have 2 ears and 1 mouth...listen twice as much as you talk when working cross-functionally with others within the organization. #3- Be humble! Gain your success by helping others reach their goals! Remember, most employees do not leave because of pay but because of the way they are treated or by the culture of their workplace.

He told me he had recently conducted a retail audit and wasn't happy about the empty shelves and missed opportunities that should've been gold mines. It's a brutal reality: many products vanish from shelves not from a lack of quality, but from a lack of presence. Our mission at Basemakers? To bridge this gap. But it's not a solo journey... Success blooms from the synergy between retailers, distributors, and brand champions. The secret ingredients? Focus & Dedication. Brands that stand out aren't just participating; they're "all-in" on execution. Take Lauren Martin from Chomps, for instance. Her relentless pursuit of excellence took her to Houston this week, collaborating hands-on with our team. The impact? Immediate! In the complex dance of CPG, it's easy to overlook the true drivers of success - the people powering the machine. Mohamed Al-Fayed sold Harrods for £1.5bn almost 15 years ago. It has just emerged in a new BBC documentary (Erica Gornall Cassie Cornish-Trestrail mike radford) that when he owned the business he allegedly raped at least five female members of staff, with many more now lining up to share their horrific experiences. Bruce J. H. Drummond, a Barrister on the legal team representing those women, said "The spider’s web of corruption and abuse in this company was unbelievable and very dark.". A former employee recalled that “Mohamed Al-Fayed was a monster, a sexual predator with no moral compass whatsoever,” ... the staff at Harrods were his “playthings”. “We were all so scared. He actively cultivated fear. If he said ‘jump’ employees would ask ‘how high’.” When there is a malign cultural force so deeply embedded in a company that even a change of ownership will struggle to rectify it - because when the very top is that rank, it quickly spreads - the new leadership team absolutely must prioritise #values-led #cultural transformation. But the truth is that they might not know the scale of the problem, even when something has been an open secret. Take as example an external consultancy report from three years after the sale, which includes this humdinger: "Despite perceptions outside of Harrods, Mr Al-Fayed was very popular with staff and was well known for his compassion. The new owners share his views and firmly believe that the way employees are treated is as important as financial performance." People like Al-Fayed build myths around themselves that make people who see the other side of the story find it very hard to speak up. Loyalty is an odd thing that doesn't always go in the direction you would expect. Like any rot which has been allowed to spread in dark corners, it's hard work to get rid of, and the more you dig the more you find. It's also work with a ticking time bomb attached because without a clear and consistent demonstration of intent people can easily lapse into old habits. Harrods is not the only cherished national institution that has allowed this moral degeneracy to take hold. Think of what happened at the Post Office Ltd with the Horizon scandal. Think of the double standards of some people in highest office. I was curious to see where things have got to. Here's Harrods's values, developed in 2019. They call them 'employee values' and position them as a promise: "As you live our values, we will too, for everyone who joins us here at Harrods. These are our promises to you." Since that open secret is now firmly uncovered, let's hope the values of 'trust' and 'we are one' can fully take hold at last. https://lnkd.in/eDWBxCrZ

"You'll find me at live music, on the golf course, hiking trails, traveling, and spending time with family.
