I absolutely loved this article featuring Devin Koopman -- specifically this section on the construction industry. How do you see the industry evolving in the near future and what can Perlo do to adapt to these changes? The trending term is “aging workforce,” and you’ll hear it over and over again because it’s vitally important to the future of our industry. We need young people to get involved, and that means we, as an industry, need to foster the next wave of workers and leaders. For us, this requires getting out there, talking to students, and changing the dialogue around skilled-trades and construction in general. I love the saying, “Train someone to be better than yourself.” You must be comfortable and confident to not be threatened by this. Technology is also changing at a rapid pace. How we build will change, and we have to trust the next generation to learn these skills and carry the torch. I think it’s important to take pride in not just training a peer, but, hopefully, your successor. https://lnkd.in/gDBbfPHm

Navigating the Human Element in Construction 🤗 In the construction industry, our projects are built with more than just concrete and steel; they are shaped by the diverse and dynamic human elements involved. As a construction professional, I find myself constantly interacting with a wide range of individuals—engineers, laborers, foremen, supervisors, and managers. Each person brings their unique skills, perspectives, and, yes, emotions and egos to the table. It's a challenging but rewarding aspect of our field. Effective communication, empathy, and understanding are crucial in fostering a collaborative environment where everyone feels valued and heard. It's about finding common ground and working together towards our shared goals, despite the differences in our roles and viewpoints. Every day, I strive to balance technical demands with the interpersonal skills required to lead and support my team. By acknowledging and addressing the human element in our projects, we not only build better structures but also stronger, more cohesive teams. Let's continue to build with integrity, respect, and a recognition of the vital human aspect of our work. #Construction #Leadership #Teamwork #Communication #HumanElement #ConstructionLeadership #civilengineer
