Very exciting news for the UK & Ireland Hospitality scene On October 1st, the Michelin Guide will be revealing all 1, 2 & 3 key hotels and I for one am buzzing to see who gets what! I have followed it closely in America, France, Spain etc - eagerly anticipating when we will get our turn I have my opinions but who do we think are a definite for 3 keys? For anyone who hasn't been following, here is an explanation of each: "Similar to Michelin stars, the key is is a three-tiered award designed to highlight the best places to stay across the globe. Hotels can be rated as one key (a special place to stay), two keys (an exceptional stay) or three keys (an extraordinary stay)."

MAINTAIN YOUR FOCUS AND PASSION ..... remember, perspective is entirely dependent on your starting point. Consider my journey, for instance. I began as a Key Filer at the #TorontoSheratonCentre, a hotel with 1407 rooms, where my task was simply to organize the bedroom keys behind the front desk. Fast forward 40 years, and I've opened 5 hotels, renovated and rebranded 3 others, and lived in 7 countries across 4 continents. And now, I have the honour of leading the amazing #DorianHotel team, an incredible group of passionate hospitality professionals. Has every day been wonderful? Certainly not, we all experience highs and lows. However, it's important to keep things in perspective. Take moments to reflect on your completed projects, earned certificates and positions, and the lives you've touched. It's only when you look back that you fully appreciate how far you've come. This retrospection not only reveals the magnitude of your growth but also fuels your drive to continue and to motivate others. Recently read a book by #IsadoreSharp called “Four Seasons: The Story of a Business Philosophy”. Finished it in a matter of days and cannot recommend it enough. The book covers the creation of the world famous chain and the face of luxury hotels Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. I was inspired by the work Mr.Sharp had done to create this brand. He constantly worked on improving his brand, and always looked at the hotel from the guest’s perspective. The most important advices that I got from this book were his words that said: “The simple idea that if you treat people well, the way you would like to be treated, they will do the same.” “We are only what we do, not what we say we are.” #IsadoreSharp always encouraged his managers to lead by example, and always treat people the way you want to be treated. I think by following these simple rules, that are often disregarded, a manager can improve his relationship with his employees, and the front line staff can deliver better service to the guests. This book has many more important lessons to learn, but I cannot fit them all in one post…
