This time of year I think a lot about organizations that help others and how it can be difficult for them to get the word out to the general public. For example, https://lnkd.in/emms3Ghd Much is being done to raise awareness for our Veterans like the amazing National World War II museum in New Orleans. But there are far too many Americans that are simply unaware of foundations, museums, even the Library of Congress' efforts to preserve and tell Veterans' stories. The competition for the general public's attention is fierce. That's why I want to take the stories to where the general public is - to airports, schools, sporting events, concerts, fairs, tradeshows, visitor centers, and everywhere the public gathers. To quickly setup popup galleries with a dozen or more framed interactive displays. The goal? To generate awareness and tell Veterans' stores where people gather. Displays built or assembled in America to honor Americans that can quickly be moved from place to place. To be at events spreading awareness. Over the past two years I have finally completed the design for DiLithium interactive battery-powered displays that will be assembled in Massachusetts. I am currently finalizing ways to build them and to create popup galleries featuring Veterans' stories. I ask for your help, my LinkedIn connections, to help me connect with the organizations and people who think, as I do, that this is important. #VeteransStories #DirectToPublic #BatteryPoweredDisplays #MadeInUSA #DiLithium #Interactive #GoWherePeopleAre #NeverHurtsToAsk

The Small Acts of Community campaign kicks off today. Focused on the belief that small acts of community have great worth - this is something I’m super proud to be a part of. One of the lines of the student oath for taekwondo has always been my favorite “I shall build a more peaceful world.” I have always believed that world starts with the small things and those build up, add up, and inspire others. It was the premise behind my only large scale solo art show (featured about 4000 origami cranes). Today, as part of my professional work, and in joyous activism, we will be asking people to commit acts of community. Could be an act of kindness - say hello, hold a door open. Could be a larger act of community - help pick up some trash, help your neighbor out, volunteer your time with an organization near and dear to your heart. Things that are free and don’t cost a thing. Got some spare money - donate it to a good cause. Before you say but I don’t have any money - as part of the smaller events leading up to today, I was handed $1.23 from the pocket of an obviously unhoused man after taking with him about the campaign and we were told to put it to the community. Think you can’t make a difference? Think again. Check out the Small Acts campaign online at https://lnkd.in/er7jD6GF. Sign it, live it, and start making a difference today!

When we celebrate July 4th, it's more than just BBQs and fireworks. It's about community. 🇺🇸 Here are 4 creative ways to show love for your community this Independence Day: 🎉 Host a Local Event: Organize a neighborhood potluck or a local talent show. It's a great way for first-time home buyers and VA buyers to meet their neighbors and build connections. 🌟 Support Local Businesses: Visit farmers' markets, local shops, or dine at a family-owned restaurant. Small actions can make a big impact on local businesses. 👥 Volunteer: Spend a few hours at a community center or participate in a clean-up event. It’s a wonderful way to give back and make our neighborhoods better. 🏡 Share Your Home Buying Story: For many, owning a home is the American dream. Sharing your journey can inspire others, especially first-time and VA buyers. This July 4th, let's make our communities stronger and more connected. Happy Independence Day! 🎆 How do you plan to celebrate and give back to your community?

As an author trying to share a message, I get no greater joy than writing personal notes of encouragement to the individuals who purchased copies. At book signings I have been accused of taking too long and backing up the line because of the notes I write. However, I do believe the simple act of writing personal notes to purchasers to say “Thank You” for their support is the right approach. I don’t have a “brand name” that people will simply go out and purchase a book, so I firmly believe that this gesture is not only necessary, but appropriate because it comes straight from the heart. It is the little things along this journey that make the biggest differences. That is exactly what I talk about in the book. Why not follow through. The same is done for books I donate to youth sporting programs as well. Their journey is just beginning and hearing that they too can move beyond their circumstances is key. Faith Walking.

Good day. Thanks for the invite. Will save the date. So glad to hear from you. HAP has a place in my mind. Having been experienced homelessness in the past six months. Working to take back what is rightfully mine. Getting a Court order to return to the property where our family our kids and I lived for years( from 2005 -October 26. 2023) I could not believe how it’s done, a bit unkind and so inhumane in the name of what? I ponder. The bank foreclose to collect a debt. The Broker with the Sheriff ‘s department evicted a residential tenant without a Court Order; with the locksmith they opened up your house in broad daylight. Pack your personal property including sensitive documents stuffed them in storage units forged your signature opening Account pay for the first month with their MasterCard quickly cancel so the following months you are responsible to pay approximately 600 for their doings if not your stuffs will be auction. I’m pretty sure this is not the first time they do it. They told the IRS they acquired an abandon house. But my name is on the deed they know it. I was in it paying the rent paying utility bills paying homeowners insurance paying for the solar panels I Lease from Tesla I don’t have enough income to pay for the property tax. State legislator has the tax offerred to investor at the end of the year. They are free to pay for your debts and lien on the house without your consent or signature or paperwork without your knowledge In two years if you don’t come up with the principal and interest repaying they have the right to foreclose your house to collect the debt plus Their Gain They sued the homeowner for default claiming themselves a plaintiff Call for harms. Demand judgment but you are the one who was evicted with the clothes on you back. To live in the subway Sleep under the sky Rest on the side street underneath somebody owning or be in unsafe unsanitary shelters condition neglected Unfit to live in We get sick and die. In the meantime they will fix up the house flip it to putting cosmetic new furnitures perhaps and sell it for a premium price line in the pocket with cash that don’t belong to them. The house already paid off the minute my mortgage approved many years ago. Is this the future of my children and their families? And I was charged with a crime & incarcerated? How did it happen that a Employment termination could end up in prison ? losing a job Slowly I go Bankrupt subject to Financial abuse From lack of income. My government could not support me the cost of leaving subjected me to be victimised by the Bank financial institution and their get rich schemes from the governmental agenda .

We're ending the week with a pair of opportunities that are still open with Five Counties Children's Centre. One is urgent, so please take a look. Five Counties Children's Centre was founded by Rotary members who saw a need for a close clinic where children with disabilities could get treatment and therapy without parents/ caregivers driving to Toronto. Nearly 50 years later, the client list is in the six-thousands, with over 2000 wait-listed . With numbers like that, you can see how fundraising events are very important. Their Backyard Summer Social is coming up on the 22nd and they need help with set-up, operations, and tear-down. Because it's an adult-oriented event, the volunteers must be over 19 yrs old. The event is in the backyard of the centre, and accessible by public transit. And there will be snacks! We'll give you the event recruitment link right now so that you can contact Maddie: https://buff.ly/3Vge4XH If you're more of a sit-down-and-chat kind of person (or are busy on the 22nd) there is also a need for Donation Thankyou Callers. It's pretty much as described. People send money to Five Counties and bi-weekly for a couple of hours, you call those nice people back to thank them for that very important donation. And if you're unable to afford a donation yourself, this is a way you can contribute more than money. It's a remote opportunity and time-flexible. You will need a basic police check for this one, NOT the Vulnerable sector screening. This listing is on our Opportunities page. Five Counties is a vital part of our community, especially for anyone who has a disabled child in their care. Supports for these children help them thrive and grow, and shatter barriers themselves. See how you can help today. #CommunityBuilding #Inclusion #FUNdraising #ThankYou #SummerFun

Americans for the Arts recently released their thorough Arts & Economic Prosperity study, including the following two key findings that hit very close to home. As the director of a community-based, non-profit arts and culture center, I get to see firsthand every day the economic impact on our neighborhoods and pride in our communities that is driven by artists and arts organizations. "Pride in community. 89% of attendees agreed that the activity or venue they were attending was “a source of neighborhood pride for the community.” 86% said they would “feel a sense of loss if that activity or venue was no longer available,” and 86% felt it important that future generations also be able to have that cultural experience." "Arts and culture drives commerce to local businesses. When people attend a cultural event, they often make an outing of it—dining at a restaurant, paying for parking or public transportation, enjoying dessert after the show, and returning home to pay for child or pet care. Attendees at nonprofit arts and culture events spend $38.46 per person per event, beyond the cost of admission—vital income for local merchants and a value-add that few industries can compete with."
