Product Bundle features are supposed to be a win-win for businesses & customers. In reality, bundling can easily become a game of tug of war.
Bundling is a core way eCommerce brands grow their AOV and cart size. Bundling is also one of the best ways consumers can get a value-driven purchase.
But in a lot of cases, bundling doesn’t serve the needs of both the business that implements the feature, or that business’s customers.
Either the business traditionally wins the game by forcing products together to create higher AOV, or customers win at a hit to the business.
Product bundles that genuinely drive AOV must take customer needs and purchasing preferences into account, or customers won’t engage with bundling at all. But they also have to meet the needs of the business, i.e., higher, realized AOV and margins.
Approach bundling thoughtfully. Try to drop the rope. You’ll more easily find that balance between the two and create an actual win-win scenario.
