2024 Mortgage Recruiting Update: A good producer is almost always a welcomed addition. However, more and more, the companies I interact with are truly considering the whole picture of the individual. Some companies have been through enough these past few years, expenses far beyond today's production (or in the very near future) is just not motivating or interesting. Let another company have that bill. Some companies feel they've worked out a way to build something unique with people who work together well and come with a team first mindset. No production is worth injecting an inflated ego or attitude. Assuming it's a decent company, I believe the more often an organization makes recruiting decisions that closely align the values of their existing team, the more likely they are to succeed.

Unlike the boom of 2020-2021, companies are offering more modest compensation packages 💸 and focusing on cultural fit and innovative talent strategies. A recent Housing and Mortgage Trends article* states that loanDepot is actively recruiting, with a goal of filling up to 200 positions, while Better plans to hire 40-50 licensed loan officers monthly. Companies like UWM and Guild Holdings are also ramping up, but with more deliberate hiring practices.
